  1. What is the going rate per hour for hand cutters including there own saws ppe cutting Norway and Sitka out of a hardwood stand probably 25 feet high and tipping 3 m lengths to side for the forwarder or maybe go for tonnage rate any input welcome thanks

I think big trees are much better than most of the small stuff as you are on the job for a full shift for a day or 2 no down time travelling between jobs that's where a lot of time is wasted , someone mentioned extra fuel this should be calculated in the price along with every other cost I would have thought but yes stick to your price as that is what you have quoted therefor need for this job and I personally think if you can move then its been too high in the first place and makes you look a wee bit silly
  3. anyone heard of ?perlagonic acid it is supposed to be systemic and act within 2 hours almost like "gramoxone" but cant find any details except it was advertised on a tv channelof all places

    our Kubota gr2100 has a broken bearing in the gearbox.on investigation it appears to have collapsed ie all the balls are out of it .My question is how can abearing that is submersed in oil break up as it is only a slow turning wheel shaft,they are telling me it must have been loaded?:confused1:can someone please explain this in plain English to me how something in a round casing can be loaded thanks in advance for reply
  7. we have a block of larch est100 ton what is the best/most popular size to cut they are approx 22 inch across at the base,also what is the value per ton of Norway spruce similar size cut to 3m last year. thanks

Rupes quite right " if" you are paying sick pay to your guy and he turns up Monday morning with a torn knee from the weekend then I agree that's his problem but worse if the so called injury suddenly happens at 9 on Monday and off for 6 weeks because of it that's when I think we have reason to question it . On the quote subject I would write exactly what you will do and make sure they understand it cause we have had people say oh I thought x y z was included

Thanks guys I have a pair of air streams and when new were fantastic but one year on soles have split away and in only afew moth the lining at the back of the heel wore out so I'm not too keen to buy another pair think I will go with haix protector pro they seem to get a good review but thanks for sharing your experience

  13. The way you felt I think is perfectly normal as a parent as everyone has said. Try to keep every thing in perspective your boy has had a nasty cut to the head but you say seems ok now after the the care and love you as parents gave him ,as said emotions images etc play your mind when you are alone with nothing else to do but relive the days events I'm sure as said he will be fine "until the next time"!!!!! Good on ye
  14. We use Stihl back pack models and have done for ten plus years very reliable and easier to use on banks etc
  15. we got one built for our 6 ton digger with sockets down the side for pins also it has air brakes super singles and lowers to the ground very good thing

  20. we have used rover mowers 22" cut with mulch plug good for 2 -3 years commercially round about 550 from fr jones great service as well

  22. i made afew big ones but burnt out too quick with the whole length burning so experimented by cutting down a third then leaving an inch then bore through and cut down to near the base this worked as the embers eventually burn through and offf you go again this was on dry sitka
  23. I'm not a mechanic but was told by one that they have 2 piece cranks and they distort putting them out of time don't understand these things though
  24. yes got you now i knew what car jacking was just couldnt work out the rest .i know how you feel i came home the other night to find 2 shifty looking gents walking round from back yard even with my nephew working in the shed 10 yards away i told them to clear off and phoned the police who caught them later at another place and arrested them lets wait and see the punishment though
