  2. i would tend to agree except i was in a dealers shop when council workers came in for 2 new chains . the assistant tried to sell them files but the guy said he coulndt be arsed .he was cutting out no more than 50 meters of roadside hedge
  3. extreme caution must be used when cutting old oil drums gasses inside explode with lethal force 2 people killed already doing just that ,hope you dont think im being too dramatic but one of these guys was an experienced fabricator.
  4. i had similar with old254 husky the air gap needed set give it a try costs nothing also try another plug out ofsomething you know works making sure its the same size its not unheard of a faulty new plug again worth atry
  5. i know the feeling we stay on the door and fencing was awarded to a sawmill/fencing company 60 miles away at a very low rate as they only need to supply materials to make money no way could we compete for meterage rate
  6. i agree entirely why do some qualify others dont but this scheme alone keeps 2planters 4fencers drainage boys and us treeworkers almost ayears work so not moaning too much
  7. dont know about that some fencing /hedging grants still running we have removed thousands of metres of hawthorn hedge/fences for replanting 250 000 plants 30miles fencing going up as we speak just luck i suppose if your near the work

  9. can you tell me why beech do this i hace seen this many times as said on a calm windfree day . can this on healthy trees be a sudden rush of sap making so called hydraulic pressure as i have witnessed this happen in actual fact i asked a scout master to move his tents from under this tree only to return later that day with about half the tree lying and aworried scout (genuine story i swear).
  10. i fitted 205 landrover tyres on cabstar only to find out at mot they are not legal .another point for fuel economy re tyres is pressure ,keep them as hard as traction/foot print allows
  11. hi guys we use a posch spaltax foot operated machine meens you can hold logs with both hands ie turn them through 90 degrees and split them again ifyou dont have 4way splitter on say in gnarly oldbits i dont agree these are unsafe as you are holding the side of the log .dont need to tell you how to suck eggs!!!
  12. you will have checked the blades ? once got a mower back from dealer with unbelieveably the blades/disc upside down !
  13. we cut alot of sycamore last november to leave native woodland for SNH and sap was pouring from stumps this was when it was freezing as site was around a loch . removed sycamore last week at a mansion house with absolutely none ,noticed this many times.sycamore burns best when red dots appear on bark dont you agree
  14. hi guys new to this forum dont have one for sale or hire we have an exenco self driven 50 hp diesel ex forklift engine i was told thought we were only ones with a dinosaur
  15. fence was feathered edge ie no way to cover posts on both sides customer always right? not only wide but heavy too
  16. had two neighbours that could not/would not agree so railed and slatted both sides too wide in my opinion
