  1. as i c trees says you know exactly what you are selling also we sell barrow bags which means you can dump the logs where the customer wants them even through a hall to back garden cant do that with a dumpy bag !!!!!!!!!!
  2. our guy did test last year for about 400 at an hgv test centre that was for one day training then test next day. h said it was not hard just get out of bad driving habits .the guy at the centre was really helpful even suggested you can try the test straight off without instruction if you feel confident but you must have proper trailer ie box or one with headboard so you cant see through
  3. have you tried barrow bags they are dearer to buy but we surcharge them much easier to handle customers love them cause you can put them in the garage or whatever saves leaving a bulk bag on the street needing emptied straight away we have noted an increase in sales with customers happy cant be bad
  4. used one ton potatoe boxes free from local farmer just need a few boards, box tipper to empty and you can stack them eight high and you only need to cover the top box for rain perfect boys
  5. i dont think you are being greedy merely stating what you think you are worth this may be different to what your boss thinks did get a raise.you seem to resent your boss this may i say with respect that this is not the way forward as it needs the whole team to pull together to keep a business going.also your point on not worth being late i would advise you keep working for a company and not going it alone if you wish to spend the time with your family ,not having a go at you just pointing out the down side .i think your pay is fair and would be looking for you to bring something extra to the business before a bigger pay rise .best of luck buddie
  6. whats your point in this thread respectfully we have 3 357xp used 1 for 18 months constantly just bought 2more excellent saws on harwood and currently thinning 20 year old sitka hard going but saws give no problem runnig them on aspen again no problems:001_smile:
  7. even if someone comes up with the fomula how will you use this info is it to sell your product or just personal knowledge as i think if we know so little of the science your customers might know even less . good thread though interesting to see the results
  8. i used a john deere gaitor on the hill for lamping use to use a quad but this is way better much more stable and better climbing ability plus carrying capacity only problem is ramp over angle is not too good on longer wheel base
  9. you will need roundup as well as grazon as this will not kill grasses
  10. the example i was given was this.farmer picks up goods (bales/tools etc) for his own use thats fine. farmer picks up same stuff for another farmer he is then contracting thats against the law.the same guy (vosa staff headquarters) says tractors are not allowed to travel on main road except to cross max 1km.now i know there are many other views which may also be correct as there seems to be no absolute rules as i no locally a farmer uses fasttrack doing60k/h transporting chicken manure atleast 30k so dont feel bad running your mogs:thumbup1:ps i thought this is what a forum is all about sharing different opinions:thumbup:
  11. ok idont think this will harm your saw but when i bought mine the dealer stated 50:1 xp oil and thats what i have used for at least eight years with no problems at all
  12. steady mate i got shot down for suggesting that:001_tt2:
  13. :sneaky2:i said earlier 50:1 xp oil is what i use but does anyone know what oil is used in aspen mix sorry to highjack thread:sneaky2:
  14. dont mean to provoke people but where is the tar going in me chimney????.i worked on an estate for 20 years amongst others filling the wood shed yes to store/dry wood mainly beech but the laird always insisted on any fresh ash that came available to burn he should have it ,now im sure he would not risk tarring up a mansion house chimney too often.
  15. im not trying to convert anyone all im saying is dont discount fresh ash /birch.i recall a guy in forest journal using fresh wood which produced steam/heat to dry firewood maybe someone can enlighten us on the science.best way to decide is to try it yourself.
  16. i dont agree mate having burned ash /birch for 20 years in wood burner the chimney is lined with thermal cement type stuff (not sure) being swept twice a year with only minimal grey ash .swap you any time willow for ash/birch i do agree most wood should be dried but some steam gives off a"super heat:sneaky2
  17. go on mate enlighten me :blushing:i burn both with great result . what is your reason for not burning them fresh
  18. i use one mate and it is normal 50:1 ratio but as in other threads suggest use xp oil i have used it for years with no problems
  19. what not even birch or ash ?
  20. i took your advice on chippers and hired a vari trak greenmech last week this machine was fantastic for what we needed chipping up to 6 inch larch and tops off sycamore with cord wood being kept. must say thanks to alistair thomson and paul if they are on arbtalk very helpful guys cheers
  21. wood pigeon nest most of the year as im sure you know but i dont think commercial forestry stops at any point please correct me if im wrong
  22. good idea guys i stack logs in one ton potatoe boxes easy stacked and free from farmers once they are a bit weak or broken spars even better for ventilation
  23. the van was not reg as ag or plant just normal tax i was highlighting the rules given out for using red diesel which was 1k only laughable i know but thems the rules:thumbup1:
  24. dont mean to put a spanner in the works but check out rules and regulations for using red diesel.a van i bought had at some time red diesel in it as i taxed it filled tank and went to auction next day to cut to the chase ,ministry dipped tank and tested diesel and said5% red was in .i showed them tax disc and diesel reciept but still it was my fault .iappealed but their view was up held 500 pound fine and 500 to release van this was later refunded . the rules given on red to me were that you can drive amax of 1k on the road in ag vehicle any views welcolme
  25. this looks similar to exenco chipper i use other than its chute is at 45 degrees but 4inch x20 feet sycamore in about 4seconds not dangerous if you watch what your doing.your chain on the saw is doing 20 m/second i was told!!!!!!!!!!
