  1. Check out old Scottish encyclopaedia they are listed as Scotch pine according to my old and well read uncle. I took a picture of this out of his book but can't upload photos. Anyone else seen this ?
  2. The most annoying in use is the word ( so) as the start of an answer to a question ie. So what we have is blah blah!!!!
  3. The gr 2100 is a good machine WHEN working but ours has been a lot of trouble broken clutch pro bearing which knackered pro clutch 600 quid parts to sort . Glide steer cables break regularly new machine has rods to fix this problem , rear axle inner bearings fail which is a complete strip down 7 hours labour , 4 wheel drive stopped tracked down to a slipped shaft being held in by circlip . All of the above the dealer insisted was our fault and no warranty lack of grease being the main factor even though it is checked and greased daily not the 50 hours as on the book . I had a blazing row over constant problems of no rep phoning back etc that I had no option except contact Kubota direct (better not say who ) and he fixed this in 30 min with a grovelling rep on the phone guaranteeing the drive system for 1 year extra no charge on fixing gearbox fault, 7 working ours later 4 wheel drive gone again this te a clever mechanic secured shaft with a locking bush and grub screw . So my message is complain like f!!!!' If you feel you are being pushed about and tell them you share info on forums that's what I think swayed it tbh they don't like bad press but to conclude they are when working one of the best machines ime
  4. I have an odd ball Honda nv 50 three wheel moped v reg stored last 10 years not perfect condition but pretty good not many around
  5. I am not disputing your facts / pics etc only sharing my experience
  6. most vehicles will pull in excess of what legally can be towed but can they tow even lighter loads off road .facts speak for there self I have had various 4x4s in the past hilux being one of them and you may as well leave it at the wood side .our work vehicle atm is a discovery 300 van cant fault offroad performance and towing capabilities the other vehicle I would rate very highly was an Iveco 4x4 with very high tow weight and genuinely brilliant off road
  7. we have a digbits one fitted to our 8060 jcb and 2.5 Kubota they are great and used for 5years a little wear on 2.5 one but it is probably getting used to extreme ,we would not be without them for moving brash /heads etc last week it stacked 160t larch and shifted all the brash to piles for transport to fire
  8. Hi Jonathan probably telling you what you already know but there is no vat or import duty only German tax which was 20 per cent very straight forward we flew to Amsterdam hired car and drove into Germany done the deal and got it by low loader to ferry then back to rosyth then docs to Dundee for registration job done, all in it was cheaper than local tractor dealer could bring a tractor from Newcastle so he says!
  9. I tried to find the model on line also looked up Naud with no luck maybe justo though
  10. We own a mini tractor flail about 1 meter wide with big paddle type flails and the question is can I change the rotor for one with small flails I don't want to fit small ones on tho rotor s I would need to weld brackets for them and also need rebalancing . The make is a Naud Thanks in advance
  11. Buy the one in your picture not the plastic pair with torque setting I have broken 2 just pushing them tight and nearly broke my wrist in the process . I like gripples you get a nice neat finish and much quicker
  12. This Stihl policy really is stupid I broke my logging tape the other day so phoned local dealer didn't have one went home online to joneses can't buy Stihl so just bought husky one . I do agree in part with Andy Collins about carrying spares but you can't carry every thing and when you need an item ASAP then you have little option but buy what is there ,I don't think this is looking after customers thankfully most of our kit is husqvarna .
  13. Thanks for your reply like I say they rev very quick and never bog down running on 325 chain in larch clear fell just now might replace the oldest one soon though to keep new saws available to us not sure what with yet
  14. Hi spud I have 3 x 357xp bought new and each one needs 7 pulls with choke out to fire then 3 choke in to run had them 3 plus years now running no problems question is they have never been tuned since new do they need adjusted form factory settings
  15. :thumbup:Just got a contract to supply a local firm who is claiming RHI potatoes boxes with spruce cut to 50cm can't wait to see how many of them I can knock out in a day on posch s350
  16. I have posted before you need log deck to get the most out of your processor best I can do is 15 cube per day that's on a posch s 350 don't know how this compares with others but that's how it is not going to ( big up ) a machine for any one
  17. Just been to a party with the heiress to glenmorangie and got very pissed don't know how I'm writing this thank god for spell check oops !!!!!!
  18. Yes we will probably part with all of it once its cut or if a good offer in the round . Speaking to a guy on the phone last night he reckons in the region of 900 per cube. He was quoted £90 for a 9x9 x9 foot beam . What is the best size to cut this
  19. I sympathise with you done the same few years ago prescribed ora morph only thing that helped pain then got a tens machine (preggie woman get them) but as spud said lie on your stomach force your pelvis on the bed and push up as far as you can with your arms then let yourself down repeat a few times
  20. Hi all I have 64 Douglas fir logs 3.7 m x average 45 cm diameter . A few questions when is the best time to mill them (been cut 9 months) what size do you recommend to cut ,any idea of a value per cube also what volume would you expect from this amount thanks
  21. Thanks mike we are in east fife and yes it is of course a hatz diesel . The symptoms are revs die down when blades engaged and won't recover you can adjust throttle cable to gain revs but when you shut off blades the engine revs it's nuts off. The local stiga agent says he thinks it could be diesel governor ? I have a spare engine so last night took out dodgy one which I still want to fix(future log splitter power unit being 11 hp)
  22. Cutting a roadside ash about 10 years ago police had it closed for "a few minutes officer" hit an old pig fence ie old runway reinforcement stuff from the war not only did I cut the verticals but also the horizontal bits just had to almost burn its way through , this was with a 3120 ,chain went in the bin needless to say
  23. Hi all got a stigma park pro diesel with a diesel governor problem I'm told from agent as it won't hold revs under load does anyone have any idea how to fix said governors thanks
  24. So we are average 10 per hour but what per ton it's not all even and I think would be a nightmare to be fair to the cutters built I do get the point of cutters getting lazy if they know its the same rate all day but on the other hand you don't need to ask them back
