  1. Uprate your suspension & keep a tyre inflator on the truck to pump them up when you have a heavy load. Obviously I couldn't recommend you travel overweight, but at least don't attract attention.
  2. I'd definitely hire a rotovator rather than do it by hand. Leaves a nice finish. Eventually I got fed up hiring & bought one!
  3. Well done Martyn. Like most people have said if you do something like tip, you just give them some ammo to use against you. Same with being aggressive in an office. Hope work's going well. Dan.
  4. I wouldn't bother with a permanent work space mate. Instead have some 3/4 box section fitted to either side so you could slide in a vertical partition as & when you need it. You could put more than one in so each section would be a cubic metre. That way if you ever start selling logs its easy to know how much you're delivering at a time.
  5. Sounds like it's all open to negotiation then! Andrew at Balcas did say they have a biomass boiler in Inverness but he said he wasn't sure it's worth picking up from Glasgow.
  6. The higher amounts paid need to be delivered to them whereas the lower amounts paid means they collect from you. I had bit of a call around today.

    flyers

http://www.vistaprint.com are good for for cards, postcards etc. quality has always been excellent. you could also order small runs to try out.
  8. Hi Curtis, I imagine this would work better on a double cb than a single cab. Do you get problems with stuff getting caught behind the wheel arches?
  9. Hi all Does anyone know of any companies OTHER than A W Jenkinson that take woodchips? I'm based just outside Glasgow. I find them a bit of a joke to communicate with. Steph Bateman the girl who covers my area never returns calls, messages or email etc which is pretty poor customer service. Anyone else had a similar experience? Incidently I offer a free tip for woodchips to anyone working close by (my yard is in Cambuslang). Cheers, Dan.
  10. Hi all, I've just taken on a yard in Cambuslang & can offer a Free tip for anyone working on the South side & needs to get rid of chippings etc. The Woodchip will be going for Biomass so needs to be free of logs etc. I also have limited space to dump logs. Hardwood only at the moment though till i sort some extra space out. Feel free to pm me for details. Cheers, Dan.
  11. What does the pulley do Rupe? Is it connected to the harness to keep the tail end of the rope straight?
  12. certainly is cheap! i can see you'll probably get a fair bit of business that way but i wouldn't have thought that leaves you an awful lot in a maintenance & repair fund after you take out profits. decent equipment does cost to maintain as i'm sure you're well aware.
  13. Am i correct in saying a tree (conifer) can be removed if a bird is in the process of building a nest, but can't be removed if the nest is already built & eggs have been laid?
  14. hey! when did the world move up from prussik loops? makes me feel like a caveman... all joking aside, that was a very good demonstration of climbing. is there some sort of basic guide to using different ascenders/descenders any where? i'm all for making life easy, but am struggling to think how i'd even start looking into the various climbing systems available, never mind trying them out.
  15. i bought an oregon bench grinder (not the mini one) a while ago with a view to setting up a chain sharpening service & never got around to it. perhaps it's time i did.... pm sent
  16. tell us where you're based mate & what areas you cover.
  17. That seems very cheap for about 1.5 acres! If i get any jobs like that come up, i'll sub them out to you.
  18. just out of interest what is the sound restriction problem about? Can you not put up a couple of heras barriers with a couple of sheets of sterling board to reduce noise in one particular direction?
  19. Just for your information, i have a single cab hilux pickup & a level load is approx 1.2 cubic metres (taking into account the space the wheel arches take up). I sell at £80 a cubic metre or £100 a level load.
  20. I get that as well. Bless them, people say they like to burn something a bit fresh cause it lasts longer...
  21. Oh I missed out on the end of the auction..... I'm devastated. Think i'll start driving mini cabs now.
