  1. As mentioned, see if you can pickup an old run down farm/house with land & you should have more value. Although you'll know the local market better. A nice Hazel & Ash coppice would be good for firewood on rotation once it's established too. Sounds like a decent plan you've got 👍 Sent from my D6603 using Arbtalk mobile app

  8. Regardless of what the Romans did or didn't do, have you explained the extra cost incurred to your customer? Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk

  11. No, he just woke up in A&E with a Sainsburys bag with the pine cone in it & note saying "this landed on your head". 😂 Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
  12. Doing relatively nothing is probably the biggest perk. Anyone who's run their own business will tell you, that you look at things completely difft to when you just turn up to earn that days wages. I started out in councils thru an agency years ago when I started tree work & it's basically a cushy number whichever way you look at it. Cafe in the mornings, lunchtime, finish leisurely... All at the publics expense. Sent from my D6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  13. YouTube is great for compilation videos of wood furniture etc. I keep watching them going "I can make that", "I can make that" 😄 This time next year, I'll be a millionaire 😁 Sent from my D6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  14. I'd say get in touch with some local tree surgeons & sort out a supply of wood to process 1st. I wouldn't throw a load of money at it to start unless you've got loads sitting around. Build it up on the side along whatever you do & yes, get a log splitter. Sent from my D6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. Does this mean in the long run there's a bit of a danger that businesses will start getting costs (like rates) pushed up & up, & an "alternative" service provided by the local council? There a good portion of the population, particularly the elderly who will probably take that option thinking it's a safer option & they're less likely to get stung by cowboys. 16. I'm one of its constituents & I font see it benefitting me. Sent from my D6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  17. What's the payload it can take? You'll need to build a chip box as well. You'll likely run out of weight before you do space though. If possible get them to load it up with weight up to the max limit to see how it sits & drives then. As mentioned 100bhp (& that would've been at new) isn't much & you've only got single wheels at the back too. Take your time. The right truck is out there for you 👍 Sent from my D6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  18. I'd take someone along who can give it a good check over mechanically. Unless you're good at that sort if thing. Sent from my D6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. A true councilman's answer 😄 What's the general opinion from within so to say? Is it one of "it's extra competition, tough, deal with it"? Do you think it's fair for the council to quote on work essentially landing on their laps? I personally think it's an unfair advantage using public funds with a list of hundreds of jobs to potentially price up. Of course one would think that the council have completed tending to & doing all the council work that needs doing 1st before looking to make money off private jobs. Interested to know how you see it all. Sent from my D6603 using Arbtalk mobile app
