  1. Local dealer is punting out the BR600 at around £407 incl VAT and the smaller Stihl backpack blowers loike the BR430 are even better value fer money. Despite me being originally concerned about the size/bulk i'm now considering an Echo PB-770 as it's a basic 63.3cc 2T enjun. The Stihl BR350/420 is also a basic 2T enjun but although it has the same size enjun at 63.3cc i reckon it's physically smaller and the smaller fan will produce alot less blow compared to a full size machine. A Maruyama blower is also an option as they come with a 5 year (yes 5 year) warranty and a 64.7cc enjun.
  2. sounds mad, but check the air filter is not still wrapped up in plastic as it's new!
  3. thanks everyone. The chipper is a Crary Bearcat 72825 and has a long infeed hopper aswell as a fold down 'infeed table'. I'll take some measurements and cross reference them with Paul's attachment.
  4. my old chipper has the safety/control bar (forward/neutral/reverse) fitted on top of the infeed hopper. Is there anyone who can advise on a company that cud retrofit or fabricate a lower bar (knee bar) to bring my machine up to date in safety terms please?
  5. How's it goin RMac, Do ya find the mesh visor and the perspex one clear each udder sufficiently or do they foul and scratch the clear coating atall atall ?
  6. can we see pics of yer steed please?

  8. I knew in my heart n' soul that you would have spotted that afore any of us did. Tempted aint ya....
  9. My wee Greenmech had 2 remote grease nipples and the grease delivery tube failed on 1 so i repaired it, i stihl opened up the side cover every now and then though to check it was intact and doin it's job. My old Crary Bearcat chipper has plenty of grease nipples fitted directly to each bearing so i quite enjoy removing the covers and releasing the top feed roller springs and inspecting everything. Quite an easy machine to dis-assemble and work on.
  10. Put my CS2511 TESC thru it's paces this week. When I unboxed and assembled it I noted the Echo branded carving bar was very swanky looking and is .50 gauge. I ran it up and immediately felt/noticed resistance and the bar tip 'blued up' with excess heat so I had to really slacken off the chain to the extent it was hanging off the bottom of the guide bar, this to me renders the cutting gear as 'unsuitable'. The saw was oiling generously so no issues there that I can see, however I did not try adjusting the oiler. I swapped out the echo C&B in favour of the stihl MS 150T C&B which is the smaller .43 gauge as this has a nose sprocket as opposed to the Echo solid nose bar which I suspect was the cause of the overheating. I also cable tied 2 small covers as I had them come adrift on the original 2510 seeing as the 2511 is near as dammit identical to the earlier saw and I don't wanna be losing covers. I also added a loop to the tool clip fir extra peace of mind. Sent from my SM-A300FU using Arbtalk mobile app

  12. Mark i was running an old M reg non turbo Lux a few years ago and it was painfully slow but ya got used to it. Fine as long as ya stayed off of A roads and motorways!
  13. mmmm been tinkin' of getting a 350 to. Wonder how it compares to the BR600 ? Be nice and compact I guess. They were shifting new BR600's recently fer £400 !
  14. yep fully 'de-baffled'
  15. Cheers Spudders, it deffo has a cat as i can see the bugger hiding in dare:biggrin: I'll completely gut the zorst inners. I'm swapping the cutting gear over to 0.43 too. I climbed with it today as i sent me CS2510 back to RobD, the 280 is a bit of a plump lump of a saw and kinda reminds me of a burd i once had 'relations with'. It got the job done but on 3/8ths it is quite horrible really. Really lookin forward to me 2511 turning up.
  16. Bumpety bump.
  17. had this problem on mine, all i did was pinch the small spring steel guide that the choke rod passes thru. Fixed.
  18. what percentage of moisture is considered appropriate for seasoned logs? Only reason i ask is i checked my own stacks lasts week and i got a reading of anywhere between 11%-18%. It was all felled, split and stacked in 2016.
  19. Hello Max, I is fairly sure they are the same atween 2wd and 4wd.
  20. echo 620.
  21. Nail, hit and head springs to mind.
  22. got a (on loan from anudder Arbtalker) 394 sat in the garage, tink it's on a 28'' c&b. good saw.
  23. I previously fitted a new 91vxl chain to the 360 and it was dangerous to use in my opinion. It really snagged in the cut and bucked around alot. Another Arbtalker was watching me use it up the tree and he was surprised at the struggle i was having. I took it off and bought a different type of chain that the dealer said was more suited to a hobby/home owner saw and it was much easier to use. Best mod i reckon would be to fit .43 or .50 gauge chain and a carving bar to suit.
  24. my Kohler command 25 has a similar problem, the revs drop off as the throttle seems to ease off during use. I checked and tightened all the associated linkages but it still does it so i simply tie off the throttle lever with a bit of string once warmed up and that holds it in the full throttle position. I have heard of several udder Kohler commands doing this.
