  2. Looking for contact details people. Large old oak to tug over and i wanna do it safely
  3. depending on experience that is the going rate i'm afraid.
  4. Nail, hit and head springs to mind:thumbup: I run a petrol Bearcat (Kohler 25hp V twin) will chip up to 8 inch. Turntable chassis too which is great. It's a 1999 model and has done very little work and if yer reasonably handy with the spanners it's easy enough to fix. Best 2k i have ever spent.
  5. Good thread. Decent groundies can be tricky to pin down. Decent climbers that are willing to ground can be ok but not as good as they should be as they always seem to have a bit of a chip on their shoulders about being brash draggers and can be time wasters when compared to a pukka groundie. I tend to only use well experienced lads as opposed to 'newbies' as it irritates me having to keep my eye on them to ensure safety and make sure they are keeping busy without being prompted or having 1 of the experienced lads 'babysit' them. I pay £100 per day minimum for a standard 8 hour day, and i pay overtime and 'force them' to go ferra beer afterwards! A good day means £120 minimum (again fer 8 hours). I'm generally quite generous and really do appreciate the lads that work fer me. My main groundie is mid 50's and is the best i've worked with as he has a climbing and forestry background, winching, rigging, pullies, rope systems, safety etc.
  6. the short bit on the rhs of the above pic? If so strip all that paint off and get some penetrating oil in there loike Plus Gas etc. Add some more heat into the mix and that combined with the slide hammer shud learn it real good.
  7. ok ok ok we don't believe you so a pic of the aforementioned Lady is in order, just to clear tings up loike.
  8. FFS what is it with people. Friend of mine is a dog groomer and she's had several bad payers too who simply phone her up and ask her do clip their dogs despite still owing she from previous work:confused1:
  9. It fits in the back of a VW Transporter box van (SWB). Hopper and spout can both be removed easily if required. Cheers Matt.
  10. After a few years of use the internal red oxide coloured coating on jerry cans always seems to lift off and contaminate my premix. I do use a filter on the jerry cans but minute debris still gets thru and into the combi cans Has anyone splashed out on stainless or galvanised jerry cans or am i being overly extravagant Jerry Can Stainless Steel 20 L Litre Fuel Diesel Gasoline Petrol Oil Kerosene | eBay Heavy Duty Galvanized Steel U.S Military 20L Jerry Fuel Oil Can Carry Container | eBay

  13. well it looks loike i'm leaving the wee chipper klub as it's only been used twice this year and a mate wants to buy it. It's a Greenmech and is a gr8 bit of kit but needs to be used more. Oil put the money towards either a tractor or an Ifor Williams tipper trailer.

  17. In the end I bought a set of Quadrablades for my Praxis grinder from 'Simply Spares and Consumables' on Ebay. £129 delivered, so quite pricey i guess.
  18. well done, walk on by and ferget about it. I had similar a few weeks back with a weird couple who were essentially bullying my customer when I was doing 2 days of tree work in their large garden. The abuse my customer received in the form of calls and text messages (which were forwarded onto me me via text) was unbelievable. The 'odd couple' were in their mid 50's with no kids and had 2 fantastic dogs that had to wear 'doggy coats' in June FFS! I guess this was part of the reason why they had not quite fulfilled their existence and felt the need to have dogs, chickens etc and erect an elaborate array of bat boxes / bird boxes all around their property. They started off by telling me about a pet robin they had been feeding and how careful i had to be and take care not to disturb any nesting birds etc (this is a fair comment), then as the chipper started up they complained about the noise and the fact me and the boys were wearing ear defenders it was so loud! They then came out and started telling me how much i could take off a laurel hedge which was nothing to do with them as it was their neighbours property, so i told her to stop taking pics of me (which she denied despite the fact i cud see the flash going off on her phone as she took snaps from an upstairs window) and go and do something useful like 'get a job'. She quickly took umbrage and retreated in doors. Day 2 of the job the texts kept coming to my customer who again was not on site and she was quite distressed by it all. Around about lunchtime Devon and Cornwall's Constabulary turned up as i was up an oak tree, to be fair they were realistic about the situation and didn't harp on about the 'wildlife and countryside act 1981' like the mad neighbour did. I fired off a few sentences at the Police and told them to stop the weird neighbour from taking pics and harassing people. They were fine about it and dealt with it in a professional manner in my opinion. Ya at the time you can't help but tink 'i'd like to take a dump on her doorstep' or 'leave a load of woodchip on their drive' but it's all negativity that needs to be channelled away and forgotten about.
  19. That is a fair comment in my onion. The NZ Importer shud be shot with their own balls of poo....
  20. I binned me chainsaw trousers shortly after lunch and put on a light pair of trousers as me groundie took over felling and i fed the chipper ferra change.
  21. Gr8 words indeed Joe I loaned my saw to an arb mate so it wasn't atome to be collected, but they attempted collection today and failed so i'll foot the bill and have it sent back.
