  1. Yes, work for NHS. So I'm in, its bloody horrendous though.
  2. Quite like that, I'm currently on with a cabin style bed for one of the grandkids, in my spare time. Will post a picture when finished.
  3. Nice little fergy John, bets it's done more work and is more reliable than any modern day tractor.
  4. I love them old type square Cherokee, wish they still made them, would have one in a heart beat.
  5. Well spotted Mathew. Les I was going to say the one that kev posted, looks to me as though it has been 'planted' on, as I can see definite ridge and valley lines, that seem as though they have just been bodged over , whereas yours has the continuous flow effect that is needed to make them work. Have you a formula for working them out or is it just tial and error. My head hurts just thinking about it. I love traditional roofing, but that would certainly test me.
  6. How did you work it out les, did you make a ply template of the 'eye' first and work backwards from that ?
  7. That looks like its a good straight honest motor.
  8. Feel for you pal, years ago I used to work through the agencies on building sites. Was working for one that I hadn't done before, 6 month later a letter arrived stating I was wanted for interview at Sheffield, enquired with agency why would HMRC want to interview me and they just gave me a load of rubbish, went for an intense 2hr interview, at the end the 2 guys stood up and wished me all the best. Turned out that the agency had not been paying tax, but because I had all my books in order along with pay slips stating that tax had been paid, I didn't have a case to answer, but they warned me to stay away from that agency, and gave me a few tips on what to look out in future. I was bloody relieved to get out of the building, I can tell you.
  9. You can buy coffins from Amazon [emoji23] I think most come in flat pack and the undertaker just screws them together. But as les said, most undertakers used to be joiners / builders. Surprised IKEA don't sell them [emoji23]
  10. I'm not sure but the thought has crossed my mind as well. [emoji4]
  11. Not too sure to be honest, I think its about the £300 mark, I get mid to high 30's per gallon on a decent run. I got mine about 18mth ago, it had a new clutch fitted and I paid for the timing belt to be done. I have had to have the abs sensors done which cost me about £300, but engine wise it runs like a dream. Its about to go in for a front spring, but that was due to a pot hole. I'm no mechanic so it goes to the garage for everything. I paid about about £3500 for mine with about 85k on clock.
  12. It's a strange situation for sure, as the maintenance team, we have been told to respond to emergencies only, but, as we all know, what is an emergency to one person, isn't to another, so we are in a no win situation. The staff car parks are empty, office staff working from home, but yet still being asked to do jobs in offices where nobody is working. It really is a strange situation. But we have also been told to be prepared to move dead bodies. Now the hospital I work at is split into two, a recovery hospital and a mental health hospital, we have no porter's, no mortuary or anything, and they haven't told us where we have to move the bodies to or anything. If you think everyone else is in chaos, you haven't met our management, they haven't a clue. The nursing staff are being total Angel's, but the management is appalling.
  13. Although still working, whilst stuck in house, I'm getting plenty of decorating done, ready to put the house up for sale.
  14. Hi les, I'm just thinking out loud and thinking of different avenues to possibly go down. I will more than likely be leaving the NHS at some point. We are relocating from Barnsley upto near skipton's where my wife is from. I'm too old and grumpy now to start working for someone else, I'm hoping / wanting to just work for myself now when I do eventually leave the NHS, and do stuff that pleases me and is interesting to me, if you get where I'm coming from. Cheers Harvey.
  15. I have a 2007 Hyundai tucson, 2ltr diesel all mod cons, really nice drive, can legally tow approx 1.6t I think. I tow a caravan with mine with no problem. I highly recommend them.
  16. Hi, can I just ask, how did you hollow the centre out. I needed to hollow a log out a few months ago and used a 120mm dewalt self feed bit, and it was bloody hard going. Cheers H.
  17. Well I came home yesterday on sick. I work for the NHS on maintenance, beginning of week felt crap, Tuesday night, got no sleep at all, banging headache and a head cold, couldn't breath blocked nose etc, went into work Wednesday morning, explained to boss, told him what I had, and that I didn't want to pass in on to anyone else so I was going home. He wasn't happy at all, but with what's happening at the moment, didn't want to risk it. Will go back in Monday. Have heard the other lads have been told to expect to move dead bodies at some stage, strange times.
  18. Yes I was having problems last night on my tablet, tried opening posts and it just kicked me out altogether.
  19. Dave, on a side note, can I ask how you found the 455 rancher, as I'm thinking of getting one, for the same type of work you describe. Cheers Harvey.
  20. I'm only thinking about basic stuff at this moment in time. Probably just repairing/replacing loose legs or backs and maybe recovering seat bases, then just progress the more experience I gain. It's just a service I'm thinking of offering. I already repair some furniture as I do it at work. I'm relocating at some point in the next 12 month and will probably be going sell employed, so the more I can offer the better. I just don't want to go back to being a site chippy. Would rather concentrate on stuff that interest me now.
  21. Hi, just wondering if anyone does any type of furniture Restoration either as a business or hobby. Any tips, downfalls, etc about doing it. Just thinking of ideas to expand my joinery into. I have done bits but nothing too serious. Cheers H.
  22. Haha, mine was a bright orange one with canvas roll down top. Remember me and a mate sleeping in it one night on top of cliffs at bridlington.
  23. My work routine won't change as I work for the NHS, apart from getting busier. At home I have a house to decorate at get ready to sell. Promised my wife I would have it on the market after Easter.
  24. I was born in 1970, so I was 16, left school in 87 and started with local council as an apprentice joiner, passed my driving test and my very first car was a fiat 126 ??
