    Plus one, ordered rigging line from h brother s, thought I’d treat myself to a spliced eye, assumed it would be like a climbing line, not a lasso! Back to stopper knot now

    My little compact tractor will lift 300 kg, fits through a 4 ft gate and makes v little mess, perfect for me.

    What is the long term outlook for the AA, does it rely on more people signing up to its accreditation scheme? As mentioned earlier it’s not in a strong financial position, can it carry on as it is or will it have to water down its standard s to get more firms on board to sustain itself? And if it did go under where would it leave the accredited contractors? Just thinking out loud after a couple of gins!

    I’m with you on the public purse for tpo trees, as an asset to the community they should be maintained by the council, can’t see it happening though! Actually thinking about it judging by most l.a work maybe not maintained by the council but funded instead.

    It’s 5000 total for Scotland, but ‘Roma’ does not mean they are all foreign, the government report uses the term Roma to cover all travellers/gypsies, of which Scotland has had a healthy population of for the past 500 years, slightly before the eu was formed.

    Out of interest where did you read there are 3,500 Roma in Glasgow?

    Pop tops and wind are not a good mix, I managed to take out some live lv lines with that combination many moons ago!

    Aye, that’s the thing though, always tend to be on the heavy stem rigging/dismantling after lunch when tired/dehydrated. That’s why I try and run 2 climbers if poss.

    Yeah, took it remarkably well though considering it was 100% my fault for using a machine with obvious massive h+s defects. Defo learnt from the experience!

    Tensioning up the winch cable on my old Bedford mk with a shagged thrust bearing and broken stop cable, mate had set winch line half way up tree and I started pinching it up, put foot on clutch to stop the winch but it kept pulling as wouldn’t engage (ground anchors were dug in already), front of lorry started coming up, mate still in tree with much cracking and creaking, got lorry up to probably 30 degrees before after frantic stomping the clutch kicked in,. Horrible.
