  1. Yeah, it works well in my neck of the woods, I sub them in, and sub into them on their jobs, a pool of good lads who get on, have a laugh and make good money! It’s not a bad way to make a living
  2. Good call, life’s too short to be waiting for intermittent problems to reappear!
  3. It’s also quite job dependent, a lot of my stuff is relatively small scale domestic so me and a £80 lad (who can use a saw, lets it run and doesn’t put the pitchfork through the chipper) are a profitable, happy unit. On other more complex jobs I call in the £120 super groundies/second climbers. Horses for courses.
  4. Just out of interest, how come? Has the lift pump packed in?
  5. I can see how the series of events went, boshed the crown out by lunch, feeling confident, lunch break, chogging down, then the 3 o’clock panic kicks in! Can see the job sliding into another day, so do a risky fell, I’ve been there, not hit a car though(touch wood!)
  6. I’m so gonna preorder one of them!
  7. Yeah, it’s a completely different saw compared to the original 201 s, I love mine!
  8. Will be the fuel solenoid I reckon, £16 part, easy to fit
  9. That’s why they are out 16 hrs a day, just trying to cover the finance!
  10. I’m staggered by this, I’m usually a bit of a bleeding heart liberal but they need a kick up the arse and be sent on their way.
  11. That’s a fair price, I’m similar for truck and chipper, considering an owner operator in a £75000 tractor only gets 27ph round here it’s a good living!
  12. £80 a day with own kit and fuel is shocking! Could easily do 12/15 quid on fuel and oil

Still really impressed with mine, it’s on stihl bar and chain now after the Sugi one shat itself, only use my 201 when I really have to now. Still meaning to send it to spud.....
  17. Aye, think my ‘business model’ is pretty similar to yours, one man band and subbie labour, and I do love the flexibility of it, Im off doing festival work for most of May (dicking about in a telehandler and trying not to ogle the scantily clad women to obviously) so can stack a lot of work for when I’m back, really wouldn’t want the hassle of three gangs and 12 week lead times.
  18. It’s very very rare I’ve a six week lead time, I feel like a god when I’ve got three weeks in the diary!
  19. And yes, sub the climbing out when you can, I’m 40 and still enjoy it, but purely because I pick and choose which jobs I wanna climb on,
  20. It’s been pretty quiet here on enquiries past few weeks, but I’m sure I have similar every year, get down to the last couple of days of booked in work then the phone goes nuts! Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat! But yeah, it is stressful.
  21. Ok, as a caravan dwelling type myself I’m not keen on being gassed to death. Hence I think he’s a dickhead.
  22. Putin get his just desserts? How so? The only people that are gonna get shafted are the ones on the ground, have you seen the state of their infrastructure? Kids getting killed to give putin a telling off, yeah, go team america!
  23. Yeah can’t wait for thousands of civilians to be killed in a USA/Russia dick swinging contest,
  24. Dickhead.
  25. I really like that Stafford style, really really nice looking hedge! You’ve a rare talent
