  1. It shows you how hypocritical they are and cost is king. Last week he was trying to get them to take on meatballs made from British rose veal - they said public would not buy it as the word veal conjured up bad images. Low and behold Jimmy found veal escalopes in Tescos made with veal from Germany where animal welfare standards are a lot lower!!
  2. Steve, I've told you mate, stop posting pictures...we miss it too much and want it back!!!
  3. Yep, just paid £1.359 a litre for diesel this afternoon. It was only a few weeks ago it was £1.489!
  4. I have just received my renewal notice for my vehicle insurance - a Ford Ranger pick up - and it has gone down!!!!!!! I think this is the first time in 20 something years the existing company has offered me a renewal at a reduced premium. Well done Direct Line for offering me a 10% reduction and I have had to make a number of changes to the policy over the year and they have done this without any extra premiums or admin fees. (Previous company wanted £29 when I rang to inform them I had been made redundant and wanted to change use!!)
  5. Ah,so you got one Darren? Lets see pics of what you've done then.
  6. I'm with you Sam, some research does need to be performed to assess the damage done by these birds. I take on board Dans comments re the food chain and buzzards being at the top so its natural.....but what preys on the buzzards? Nothing, so do we just let the buzzard population grow and grow?
  7. This looks an interesting machine. Off-roader Not Land Rover - GMC 6.5 Diesel - Mercedes Tractor | eBay
  8. No problem with fumes, door is always open and is 20 foot by very high! Also there is a gap between the concrete panels and the metal panels higher up so there is usually a draft. Don't know what a wareing shed is Rob, think manufacturers and builders were S&A Fabrications.
  9. This is my set up for processing and was pictured when we had a large order to fill hence the 28 cube skip. The Ford TW20 was a bit overkill but the Ford 4610 we usually use was out of action. I say my set up when in actual fact I must have one of the best mates on the planet - its his shed :60ft by 140ft; his TW and his dads 4610 - the processor and timbers mine!!
  10. My friend pays anywhere from £25 to £35 for softwood at roadside for chip production.
  11. I have a price list from two years ago when I was researching firewood processors and the vertical log splitters are listed between £1386 and £2646 plus VAT.
  12. Very neat winch mounting on the Navarra there - unusual for modern pick ups, they usually stick out a mile!
  13. Good advice Steve. Good books is very important, bank cash as well as cheques otherwise you are just spoiling your chances later down the line.
  14. I was a mortgage advisor for Barclays up until 2009 and used to cringe when I knew a customer coming in was self employed (unless they were a dentist or a doctor!). We always had a very strict lending policy and for self employed we required three years accounts and used to take an average of the net profit. However, following the problems with the economy we then had to look at any finance commitments and deduct a years worth of payments of 3x net profit. A budget planner also had to be completed and enough surplus left to meet FSA requirements for a couple or a couple with a child, etc. I would always advise people to shop around when it comes to a mortgage as policies to vary between lenders as a lot of what the FSA issues are guidelines and it depends how strictly a lender wants to follow those guidelines. And never just see one "independant" advisor - when I was interviewing customers who had been to an independant I could always guess which were the top three lenders they had told the customer about would be;not rocket science, its just those were the three companies that offered the best commission to the advisor! So shop around and always ask your own bank - its the biggest financial commitment in your life so make sure you are happy with the advice and deal you are offered. Good luck.
  15. Or for something even more useful buy a Ranger Super cab as the rear door opens giving fantastic access to the area behind the front seats. I cannot understand why Toyota and Mitsubishi do not do this.
  16. My friend bought a 12 ton electric one 2 and a half years ago and we had to modify the stops as well but apart from that no problems whatsoever, apart from the fact it weighs a ton so is difficault to move around. It will split rings my Palax KS35 processor wont!
  17. Its a processor that makes kindling Chris.
  18. Its not that bad......although I've always thought the Merc G Wagen was a thing of beauty:001_smile:
  19. Don't see many of these around as they were not many when they were new. If I had won the lottery last week I would have bought it for my four wheel drive collection. STONEFEILD P3000 4X4 TRUCK | eBay They were made some time in the 1980s and as well as some civilian sales, they took part in MOD trials but obviously were not successful.
  20. You can stick it on ebay but I wont be buying it now Steve!
  21. Thanks for the comments guys, I'll stay clear of the 390 then (thought they looked strange with an orange handle anyway). May pop for a 340/1 or 360/1 if I can save some spondoolies.
  22. I currently have a MS260 which I mainly use for ringing up timber for firewood. When I use it on the larger stuff that is too big for the processor, 14 inches plus, it does seem to struggle a bit. I have used my friends 340 and it felt much easier. I keep looking on ebay at 390s as that would give me an extra 15cc and 1hp and wondered if any body had any views?
  23. And how many tons in an hour or day would you expect to fell?
  24. Depends how much he wants for it and how much you are prepared to pay. Going rate for hardwood is anything between £45 and £60 per ton roadside.
  25. Thats the one Chris. Definately a good bit bigger but also a good bit more expensive - £6500 plus drat! Although there are grants kicking about at the moment so should be able to get 40% towards it. as you say, getting hold of a couple of bags of product would be good to take round outlets as a sample to gauge demand.
