  1. Thanks everyone Alycidon. Thanks for the advice. The 33% of the flue being less than vertical as scuppered my plans! The bit i cant get me head around is the flue exists. My burner would be on an external wall so the flue would exit close to the rear of the guttering. How far would it stick out of the roof ? TIA. Oh and i will be getting in a Hetas firm into install it.
  2. We are thinking about fitting a log burner in the lounge (we live in a bungalow). The problem we have is there is no fire-place or chimney breast in this room, there is a fire-place in another room (not used much or at all any more). So can i get a free standing burner and send the flu from it into the loft then do a 45/90 degree angle and tap the flu into the existing chimney stack instead of opening up the roof to send the flu outside ? Hope this makes sense.
  3. People these days do NOT want a pile of logs tipped on their drive. Where do you get this assumption from ? I must know (or know of) at least ten firewood merchants around this way who only do loose loads tipped on the customers drive. The only exception to this is Chris Gagen (hullsmillfarm) who stores his logs in m3 vented bags (i'm not sure if he delivers them in the bag or not)
  4. Another numpty from Stoke!!! Loads of them about ya know!!! Lets hope we can beat the scousers tomorrow, it might give us a bit of credibility back

  13. GROW UP!, Ya cut down tree's FFS, there is much more dangerous/harder jobs to contend with, believe me
  14. Our local water company is owned by a conglomerate of Australian and Canadian pension companies that go under the name of Osprey (ironic hey). It won't be many years before everyone is on a water meter.
  15. Yep your right. Water getting to the rivers quicker is what causes the flooding down stream. What we need to happen is water soaking away into the ground and filling the under ground aquifers.
  16. Yes it was shocking. The head mistress who spoke out and would be identified was from a village school local to where i live.
  17. Water companies have had nothing to do with free flowing water courses since 1990(iirc), this is now the responsibility of the Environment Agency. Gullies are the responsibility of the county council highway dept as are alot of ditches, land owners are responsible for ditches on their land or in some case ditches that boarder their land. Your right about water companies being guilty of letting staff go who had all the local knowledge only to replace the same amount of staff with no idea of what goes on in the area they work Here in East Anglia where the demand for new housing is massive things will only get worse (more hard standing = more run off). In the next village to me Persimmons have built over three hundred houses on what was farmland with no upgrade to the drainage system, and we wonder why we are seeing more flooding!
  18. It's bloody pouring down. I woke at half four this morning and left the house by five, got todays work done then back home about midday. Glad i'm not out there now.
  19. Its easy to say "just up your daily income by a tenner" But we read on here time and time again that 2 man crews are going out with truck, chipper, saws and all the other gear needed to do a days work for £250-£300 a day. They may not be able to up their daily income. And yes price is irrelevant when it comes down to health.
  20. When you put it like that it does not sound that much more expensive. But think about it this way £10 a day is £50 a week, lets say we work 48 weeks a year, that tenner a day becomes £2,400 a year, times that by three = £7,200. That is the difference (for a small company) between swapping the truck or replacing worn out kit every three years. Just my thoughts
  21. Excuse me chaps!!! But please could you leave my box out of this Probably best not to keep all your eggs in one box/basket btw
  22. I used these when i did mine Lantra Awards | Welcome | Training Courses Qualifications | #LantraAwards not sure if they cover your area though.
