  9. Bloody hell sam. It's going to be freezing this time of year. Hope ya got a good sleeping bag to keep ya warm
  10. No i came back from Spain When the last recession had just finished, all the major industry had finished in Stoke-on-Trent. All the pottery factories had closed down the coal mines were shut and the steel works were gone. The point i was trying to make was some times you have to get on ya bike and find work. A famous tory saying (and i'm definitely not one of them). Not a big hero by any stretch! I finished my time on the roads working for Mcalpines. So i know how easy you boys had it....You ought to have tried working for the TM companys that subbed into them that did the real graft that their empolyees couldn't or didn't want to do
  11. There are plenty of unskilled jobs about, maybe not in your own town/city. go out, even move to get that job, then when the machine on the factory breaks down watch/ask the fitter how he repairs it/re-sets it, then do the breakdown your self next time, the boss will soon notice you are more than an operator and with a bit of luck you move up the ladder. When i came back from Spain i took a job in traffic management, throwing cones, putting up signs on big motorway jobs (permanent nights) 7 nights a week.I lived in a caravan following the work from north to south. After 3 years i was a foreman running the night shift. Some people just don't want to work. And there excuse is it's all these bloody foreigners ! It doesn't take silky fox skills to get work! it takes hard graft and determination.
  12. They aren't professional boys they are lads with tickets and a saw nowt else...If they were professional they would be out there finding work wether that be felling trees or cutting lawns for a living. imo
  13. I'm not overlooking anything! iv'e been on my arse just like silky was a few months ago. I moved to a different country to get back on my feet (subbed £300 off my brother to get there). When that work dried up i came back to the UK and moved south to find more work! Please do tell me what i'm overlooking?
  14. Good luck to ya! I'm sick of hearing that "our jobs" are being taken by people who are coming in from Europe. there is plenty of work out there if we want it! you only have to check out silkyfox's thread.
  15. Tell the locals to step up to the mark then! or get in the export game.
  16. I fell on bad times in the mid nineties (i won't say anymore) I got myself back on my feet by going to work in Spain (took the peseta) and ran. When i got back there was still no work in Stoke-on-Trent so i moved south where there was work....Why would we/they not move to where the work/money is ?
  17. I did a crane job on a food processing factory last week. 90% of the work force are eastern European. At this time of year they start work at seven in the morning and finish at eleven at night! Not many i know would want those hours. Good luck to them.
  18. Do my own R/A M/S, your having a laugh ain't ya Mrs egg deals with that sort of stuff (i'd be lost) The crane was sorted out by the company that we were doing the job for. Not alot of hassle in it really
  19. Had a think about this one.....You didn't have to much cidder last night did ya ?
