  1. Secondhand rods do seem cheap, Shimanno bait runners not so. For a basic kit £400 or under what would you get?

    Fishing

Thinking of a basic setup, couple of rods, reels, bite alarms and maybe a spinning rod. What would you get for this winter Pike fishing? Don’t want to be spending a fortune.
  3. The same way ‘we’ changed the law to stop people claiming asylum until they get here, hence the number of illegals we are getting. Let them claim asylum overseas, if they are genuine they can come, if they aren’t the don’t come. 20% straight off the net figure.
  4. Yes I know, now, back to my point, we could stop 20% coming in by changing the law, unfortunately that doesn’t win votes.
  5. Really? I was listening to an article on the wireless the other day that suggested 80% of asylum/illegals got granted permission to stay. If that’s the case we could keep 20% out before they cross the water?
  6. Until the bullshiit law is changed nothing will change, let’s face it, they are coming, so let’s change the law, let them apply for asylum where they are, not when they’ve crossed illegally! It’s funny how the poorer parts of the country cop the most of these asylum seekers/illegals ,four of the biggest hotels in Stoke are packed with them.
  7. That’s because it isn’t a shared drain until one of your neighbours drains joins your lateral. From that point on it is shared and the responsibility of your water authority.
  8. Correct any shared drain in England is the responsibility of the sewerage undertaker, 2011 was the year of change.
  9. I get another MK6, there are still some tidy tippers about, it just takes hours, days scrolling through the internet to find one.
  10. I’m about, unlike my school days.
  11. Down to Dover for this one, it better get me home! If all goes well I’ve got it sold already.
  12. Having nearly 30 years in the wastewater industry I don’t think there is an answer, years ago works were in the middle of nowhere, sewage farms, when they were turned into sewage treatment plants they were still in the middle of nowhere, over the years all the land around treatment plants was sold off for housing, there simply isn’t the space to increase capacity. EO’s were always consented in storm conditions, now pumping stations and works go into EO due to lack of capacity. I can’t see it changing any time soon,
  13. Keep it.
  14. No, I hadn’t seen that before, looks well. I bet they are strong money.

    Splitys

I know they make good money, but £26k really? Or I’m I that far behind the times?
  16. That sounds like a plan came together.
  17. Long time no speak b0D, similar when I was last on the books, yard was 45 minutes away, so could be long days, but when they could they gave me the jobs in South Suffolk, Essex, only downside was I copped London.
  18. Thinking about this you must be on first name terms with everyone that lives there…
  19. Out your way last week, down in the valley for a couple of days. Nice to see the dairy cattle.
  20. Second class transport beats first class walking every time.
  21. Possibly, but normally road names around toll booths give them away, names like Westgate, Denesgate. I posted the picture on a canal forum, it was suggested it could have been a gauging booth but it’s to far away from the cut for that. @monkeybusinessthis isn’t far from you, any idea?
  22. My thoughts about you my friend.
  23. From what I see the SV’s are a much later addition, the brickwork and down pipe are Victorian? There is a guided tour around the town that I may take a mooch along to soon. Having a read up the local historians can’t agree what it was.
  24. The rigours and torments, I honestly don’t know how you cope with the stress and anxiety.
  25. Never in the history of man!
