  1. Try John in Colchester, he’s a top mechanic/engineer. It won’t let me link his website but I’m sure you could find him.
  2. Unfortunately I think I got a dickhead, the other two were alright. Reminds me of when I was part of a syndicate shoot in Suffolk, the old boys ground we shot over has a son who is a retired Met firearms officer, his work mates joined the syndicate, all bar one of them were decent people, after his second drunken outburst it was made clear he wasn’t welcome anymore.
  3. Believe it or not, I am that quietly spoken guy who does nothing to p1ss people off if I’m left alone to go about my lawful business. Come to my yard accusing me of theft and place me under arrest and I’ll still play ball. The fact that the van is still here and I was de arrested speaks volumes.
  4. Could you imagine me being outspoken to an officer of the law who thinks he’s going to make the law rather than uphold it?
  5. No need to stay stum, it’s all on cctv, my gripe is how it was dealt with.
  6. I agree there are two sides to a story, when the bloke who owns the unit gets here later today I’ll get the cctv footage from inside and outside the unit which will show I was calm and collected all throughout. Maybe years ago I’d have kicked up, to long in the tooth for that sort of nonsense these days.
  7. Having slept on it, it was one of the coppers attitude that riled me, he wasn’t interested in what I had to say, his only interest was seizing the van and nicking me, it got to the stage where he cuffed me and was about to put me in the back of his car, one of the other coppers (there was 3 of them) came over and spoke to the one who cuffed me and all of a sudden I was de arrested with no proper explanation. Anyway, when my mate has done the bodywork and the new trim is fitted it will be sold and someone else’s problem.
  8. As I’m sure you’re aware I’ve not long been in this yard but I’ve no reason to believe it’s being watched. It was all bizarre, get the van collected, within a few hours the police were here telling me the van was stolen,!it isn’t, I showed them the paperwork and they contacted the company that recovered/sold it to me.
  9. I’m not sure how you judge inconvenience, taking over a hour of my day accusing me of theft is an inconvenience. This is a legit accident damaged van that I paid for by bank transfer, when that was proven the police de-arrested me and fecked off. I’m not best pleased, Doug.
  10. Suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle was all they came up with, the van had been in a light accident and recovered by a company, then sold on to me via the recovery company, all paperwork my end is in place. This is the damage.
  11. Probably not, so there’s the answer, right? It’s just fecked me off that the police can come here with allegations of theft, arrest me, then when I’ve produced the paperwork they can just leave as if nothing happened.
  12. Bought a 17 plate Transit today, not long got it back to the unit when the police turn up, arrested me on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, hand over the paperwork and after some, a lot, of questions they de-arrested me and on their merry way. No explanation, nothing! In part I think I should leave it, but it’s left me fuming. Take it up, or leave it to be?
  13. That’s one of those that once you’ve seen you can’t unsee, took me a moments to see it.
  14. Pretty much like converting a van to a camper, batten it out, kingspan or similar insulation board, (can be had from Hadliegh). Fill between battens, gently pack any other crevices with recycled plastic insulation, seal all joints with insulation tape. Vapour barrier will always be one for discussion, are you keeping moisture out, or trapping it in. Ventilation is key to keeping moisture/damp away.
  15. I have this new to me trailer that will go on a permanent pitch in April, I also have a camper that I mooch in, vanlife comes in many shapes and sizes. The problem here in England is getting somewhere passed to live on very rarely gets passed planning.
  16. You’d be surprised how many vanlifers live like this in the winter, I’ve rented the whole unit until the end of March on the agreement I can sublet it. If I wanted to, which I don’t, I could get another 6-8 vans in here if I mentioned it on some vanlife pages I’d have it full this weekend due to the amount of people looking for somewhere to pull over winter. There should be no need for it, but the tossers get involved. I’ve spoken with Jonathan Gullis MP, Stoke -on-Trent North about reopening an old council owned travellers camp for the winter months, it would be perfect, all the infrastructure is in place, being a redundant traveller site it is out of the way on the edge of a bypass so no neighbours, but as every time I’ve tried to get something organised it falls on deaf ears.
  17. Honestly you can’t beat it! off into the woods, or to the coast… reality:, three of us in an industrial unit for winter… Recently I’m reading more and more about folk thinking of living in vans and trailers due to the cost of living, and how wonderful it would be to be free, if only it was that easy. Any way, I only posted so I could force a picture of my new trailer in. Before anyone asks, that ducting is from a spray booth, not a grow.
  18. Gone With The Wind.
  19. Can’t you get the ally planks and do it yourself?
  20. I know it says over 60’s but it wasn’t a problem. I could get quite used to this eating out on ‘specials’ day.
  21. Medium wheel base, yours is a long wheel base.
  22. Is it the MWB?
  23. Smart looking truck, what’s the price over there, if you don’t mind me asking.
  24. You are a tease.
