  1. Sounds like the same place, it wouldn't have been so wafty if I wasn't meant to be there in a company van, thinking back I got away with 'murder' using their vans.
  2. Bloody foreigners coming over here turning our tree surgeons into web designers, I blame Brexit...
  3. A rise of 5 metres in Shrewsbury!, that's some water.
  4. Transits went common rail in 2002.
  5. Now you've said that there is one down a side street in Needham, opposite where Barclays Bank used to be, I was driving an Anglian Water VW Lt45, didn't fancy it, so got out for a look and spotted a fella nearby, I asked him to watch me under, he wasn't very good at marshalling traffic, I ripped the beacons off it.
  6. Sleet/snow in Sudbury, its bleeding freezing out there.
  7. Looks like it Les, been on the piss again?
  8. It's a no brainer for me, if you've got a ten year old tipper that does the job and isn't exspensive to maintain, keep it. If you need to loose money for tax reasons buy something that makes you money.
  9. I don't know if it's when you approach it'sgoing down the hill (rare things in East Anglia) that deceives the eye but it catches me every time. There's another one near Needham Lakes that doesn't create the ducking problem, yes, I meant ducking. on a tangent, got any jokes?
  10. Everything's sill working then, Steve.. She looks an ickle cracker.
  11. That's about the size of it bud, I used to cover my logs for delivery, drive past 2 days later and see them stacking rain soaked logs in the garage. Yet the first question they ask is, "are they dry", felt like saying "they were dry when I left them on your fucking driveway"
  12. They did give me a reason for stopping me, if you don't give them details they are perfectly within their rights to arrest you for obstruction. If you get arrested and interviewed that's when you choose wether to say anything or not.
  13. Yes, that's tedious, but I got pulled because of an alleged crime which in my mind isn't a bad thing. What puzzles me, and I've driven the length of the lane today to check, there isn't a bin apart from one dog shit bin and that's not been on fire. After thought I suppose it could be a domestic bin in someone's garden.
  14. Only the second time since 1996 that I've been pulled over in a vehicle, the first time was my fault for following my sat nav through a no right turn in London.
  15. You're right, don't know what changed recently but there seems to be more police about the place over the last few weeks.
  16. No point in messing them about the whole thing was sorted in 5-10 minutes, name, where you come from, where you going. I'd done nothing wrong, why would I mess them about. Copper said sorry for inconvenience and I was on my way.
  17. There's a bridge similar to that going into Ely, I know my van goes under it but I duck down in the cab every time I go under it. Don't half felel silly afterwards, but can't help it.
  18. Imagine that.
  19. Just been out to get some tins for evening drinks, drive down the lane to go to Tesco and get pulled by the old bill, normal routine, were have you just come from, where are you going?. I've just come from home and I'm going to Tesco, blah, blah, why have you stopped me?. We've had a report of a bin being set on fire and a white van was seen leaving, well it wasn't me guv. They call for a description of the bloke, 6' tall with piercings to his nose and eyebrow, I'm 5'8" with no piercings, off on my merry way.
  20. @silky fox, that wasn't the first time we met,the first time we met was at Colchester North Station, its a romantic memory that will stay in my mind forever, and ever.
  21. Someone once said, remember the golden rule when subbing... He who's got the gold makes the rules. That doesn't mean you can't bin them and go elsewhere.
  22. Yes it is unreasonable, but as Dempsey says it's part of being a subbie. Last November I was approached by a company asking me to block three days a week out of my diary until Christmas, I got the three days and most of those 8-9 weeks I got five days a week, I'd dare bet if work had dropped off for them my guaranteed 3 days a week would have been soon forgotten.
  23. What's that saying (think it was @Big J), selling logs is selling the unprofitable to the ungrateful.
  24. Any MOT testers, or someone that knows for sure. Are marker lights part of the MOT?, I had it in my head that they weren't, or is a case of if they are fitted they must work?
  25. I don't get why she topped herself unless this was the straw that broke the camels back, I'd doubt she'd go to jail for common assault unless she's got previous form. Total waste of a young life.
