  1. Similar to what I used to get for standby/call out, but that was 11 years ago, and a different trade. £25/night plus £15/per callout. You could go to bed and wake up £25 better off for doing nothing, or once I jumped in the van I'd earned £40 before I'd turned the key, if I got back home and got called out again it was another £15, all call out pay was double time, this was Upto 2009. At the time my basic wage was about £26k, I could just top £40k if I did my standby and picked up holiday and sickness cover.
  2. Beat me to it.
  3. Firstly and foremostly I think HS2 is an unneeded crock of shit, I've heard the argument that it will take trains off the existing main lines and more freight will go by rail, I don't believe it, how are they going to get that freight on HS2 trains, when, if, it gets to Manchester/Leeds how is it going to get forwarded on to its destination?, how are people going to get into, out of Euston any quicker when they have to get already overcrowded tube trains/roads, it ain't going to save no time. We've done next door to nothing's concerning SUD's except in major cities for all the time I've been in the water industry, and lived on the waterways of this country, the same properties I used to visit 20-odd years ago still get flooded today when it rains consistently. 'We' gave the inland waterways away to a 'charity' that are only interested in making a profit and selling off part of our national heritage, the maintenance programme is pitiful, water doesn't take prisoners, it needs get rid of as soon as it hits the deck. On top of that 'we' keep building on any bit of ground we can find, loads more hardstanding, loads more run off with nowhere for it to go.
  4. Corbyn is by the by now, nothing to worry about and good riddance. What needs looking at is how Bunggling is going to separate, or is that join Number 10 and number 11. It isn't the way to go imo.
  5. And you're surprised?, the lunatics have taken over the asylum today.
  6. K'nell, we've had some rain down here but nowt like you've had up there.
  7. It's against the law for an adult to have sexual contact with someone under 18 if they have a position of trust/responsibility, does Andy have that?
  8. Wow, that is some water!
  9. It is blowing a gale, just been down the shop, power is off in the village, two Ash trees have come down taking the phone line out.
  10. If you are staying around East Anglia give this company a shout, good lads who know their onions. https://www.lakesidesurfacing.com/
  11. You did a poor job of keeping it me ol' mate, not sure if I'm in me box or on a boat ATM, it's blowing a gale.
  12. Hose Services at Rackheath, I'd use HAS in Bury-st-Eds, cheap ir you go into their workshop, not so cheap if you call them out.
  13. If you don't mind keeping it over there mate I'd be most grateful.
  14. He had a medical condition that meant he couldn't sweat at the time, cringeworthy!
  15. I'd noticed this before this thread.
  16. Forty years ago he was changing traveller cheques for Euros?
  17. I'm glad it wasn't just me, after ten years a member here I thought I'd learnt most of the Stihl chainsaw models, then someone comes along with the 8 year old baby model to throw me off the scent.
  18. No, maintenance including locks, Banks are rolled into your boat licence, like rubbish, water and elsan points if you have a cassette toilet. License, insurance, mooring (if you have one) and fuel is down to the boat owner.
  19. It's a Vivaro, they drilled near the lock on the back door, I'm told they can then get a piece of wire in to open the door. New one on me.
  20. An electrician I know got his van broken into on Thursday night/Friday morning, cleaned him out. The police have been to see him this morning they told him 30 vans were done on the same night in the area. That's either a busy team or there was more than one gang out that night.
  21. £74:50 in Sudbury, I choose to buy mine off a bloke that fills bottles from his tank. I understand the risk involved.
  22. It's a good job there's two sorts of luck mate, or we wouldn't have any.
  23. Sounds draconian these days but it's true, if my old woman saw me drop litter I'd have got a clout round the lug hole, old man was the same.
  24. Reminds me of a bloke I know.
