  1. How very polite, I could think of other ways of describing her.
  2. My mate is pouring the footings today on a new build he's building, he's just rang to tell me all the materials for a start on Monday are on the truck and aren't being delivered, he isn't happy.
  3. Andy Burnham has just said he's just had confirmation from Downing Street stating it is fine for people to travel to work if they can't work from home.
  4. Twitter MOBILE.TWITTER.COM
  5. What's his name?
  6. Staying at home. point 4.
  7. Me neither, I was just about to ask the same thing.
  8. Yes, there are ups and downs of SE, but wiping out 5 million SE folk because of a world wide pandemic is slightly different to the norm.
  9. I haven't held out any hope of a decent SE deal, nor am I hoping that work will pick up any time soon, so today I've taken a 3 months on the books job to see me through.
  10. That'll be most of us.
  11. I'll have a go, if I've got it miles wrong, shoot me down. Most of the bigger SE (with staff) will be able to claim the loans and grants already available, that's them sorted? So, it's down to the one man bands: take an average of each trade, your average tree surgeon earns £xxx Your average joiner earns £xxx and so on, work out an average for each trade and pay them a percentage of that average.
  12. The 'real' doctor never came back when someone started asking him difficult questions, so I'll leave that until it's proven. Do us a Favour Andy, keep out of this thread with your bickering. There are thousands of us here that are worried about what's going to happen to our livelihoods, people cancelling insurance policies, taking mortgage holidays, the list is endless. I'm not after a row and won't have one, I've much more important things to worry about ATM.
  13. Yes, the 80% of their wage up to £2.5k/month bit is correct. I would think, but I'm not sure, that if you get that deal for employees then you would be entitled to either one of the loans or grants that are available.
  14. Nothing is available yet apart from universal credit with a £20/week uplift which would pay about £95/week, but there is more to come over the next few days.
  15. Have you been following the news/Boris' daily speeches on the subject. Have you been following what is going on online? At the moment we will technically become unemployed if we take the deal offered. But wait for the dust to settle over the weekend and see what is said at 5pm on Monday.
  16. Kin'ell Andrew, sorry to hear this. Thoughts are with you and yours.
  17. That's right mate, can you tell everyone you know to keep flushing that toilet roll they've panic bought.
  18. I wouldn't worry to much about next week, it's the coming weeks that you boys need to worry about. If the government put us in lock down or restricted movements you won't be going to work. I just scrape into the key work category, being classed as utilities.
  19. It's the same with those £10k grants that they have thrown open to all small business, not quite, it's all small businesses that work from a premesise. Working from home doesn't cut the mustard.
  20. First time I've been out this afternoon, since last Saturday, they have gone mad! I was talking to one of staff, Tesco now close through the night so they can restock the place.
  21. The government made it sound like the loans for small business were almost guaranteed, wrong. The loan will be decided by your bank a backed by the government, had one late payment in the last few years you won't be getting a loan.
  22. Am I correct in thing that this 3 hundred odd billion quid the Chancellor has banded out today has nowt in it for the likes of us?, corona will affect small set ups imh. Did anyone who was not half dead listen to it?
  23. That might well be right, but it's what's actually happening.
  24. The shit will hit the fan when schools do close, all those kids who get free school diners at home needing to be fed an extra meal a day.
  25. Have you had the form back and need to resubmit it, or are you waiting on a reply? I'm not being arsey with you, Muttley, but getting vans changed after conversion isn't easy, there is a bloke in the local town that converts vans professionally, he struggles to re-register them. I hope you get yours passed, but it can be a slog.
