  1. I doubt you will get anything for free ... Only a few tipper loads here and there.... Would in any form is worth something and I certainly wouldn't give it away for nowt
  2. The sloping bit you mean Dave? If so yes Two man job but fairly easy then... but numb for one person I've seen some sloping hoppers with it welded straight at the chipper. This one here has the hanging point 12-14" out from chipper and can swap hoppers over.... Only a few welded on tabs and some hinges for locating it out of some flat bar.
  3. Got the hopper off Fawcett plant at Bentham. It was sat around for years doing nowt. In fairness if I add it up, second hand hopper, paint etc not Inc my time or a bit of fuel, it's cost me about 290.00 plus vat to change it over to this fold.down setup cheap especially for the limited use it gets its saved me splashing 12k ISH on another chipper
  4. There's a big strimech one at the yard but it's started bending tines and ripped a tone out of its socket recently! Where tines go through its welded only to the 6mm steel frame at the top and bottom and hollow in between. I'll try upload a pic but not sure it will be shown easily .. think its second time in from the left can just see it's not there lol 🤣 no closer photos yet. That said it is on a teleporter with way too much oil flow! Needs a restrictor for when running one of these grabs
  5. Right pics as promised. Not the best paint job lol 😅 and happy to see it dusty and getting scratched up A lot better than that sloping shitty hopper
  6. Thought diesel is still fine for agg, forestry and horticulture
  7. Fettled it a little.with the magic spanner. We had some issues with the PTO kicking out even before we turned it up. Need to look further into this but this is last photo I got.... It went up to 138 at the shaft before kicking out again. Bit of a ball.ache but I'll look into it when I get chance. Picks its feet up a little better on the road now. Should be roughly 150-155 at engine now?
  8. Had the case on the Dyno to see where it's at. Not bad as supposed to be 110 at engine and 90 at shaft. These are shaft readings
  9. Any of you lot running a different wheel on yours? Was thinking about a wheel set up for green teeth but I highly rate the viewer yellow jackets I'd only have a budget of 10-12k ISH so would be looking second hand. Do the dealer's keep used stock and advertise on the internet?
  10. Cheers for that. Ideally I want an upgrade.... I'm running a Vermeer 252 25hp Kohler and that thing has quite a lot of power and doesn't bog down too much. The 35hp petrol would be the logical upgrade.
  11. Well.i went for it in the end.... Bought the hopper etc and stuff to make the linkages to work the rollers.... Haven't bothered doing major works to the housing on the chipper it sits on so still slopes there and in the first part of the hopper.... But the fold down bit sits level so doesn't let crap fall.on the floor! Also the top being scalloped out means it's a lot easier to see what your doing and better for your back! Rather than ducking and shoving stuff up to the rollers with the old hopper! Will put some pics up when I've thrown (literally) some paint on the hopper so it doesn't look as daft! It's currently fountain colours lol on an orange chipper!
  12. I'll be looking to change my grinder soon. I'm looking at the predator 28 or 38.. Obviously diesel is cheaper to run. But can people who run the 28 say it's ok on power and torque? Every video you see is that they bog down all.the time! Also not sure if I can stand the noise of that Lombardi either! What are they like for going up and down edges and flags etc in domestic gardens with ramps etc? Just thinking of the weight. Anything to consider before I go forward with this? Long time since I've seen one in the flesh so can't remember the overall size etc. Many thanks
  13. My tuppence..... Face book business pages not worth a shite. Face book full.of 10 quote warriors. I have one as a visual diary for works.... Not updated it in a long while though. Once every year if I can be arsed.... I repeat face book is shite
  14. Is it a tracked or road tow Pete? Thanks
  15. Hi Pete, Yes when you fell a tree in a field and it obliterates into a million pieces and lads are trying to shove it all up hill with shovel into a.chipper ballache! Yes that's where I'm at.... Found a hopper for reasonable brass, just no linkage .. would have to fabricate this and part of the mounting to the chipper. Ideally if I could find either a tw190 or maybe a gm1928 I wouldn't bother. Just think the 1928 be a bit numb for me.
  16. Just wondering if anyone has ever changed the hopper on a Jensen a530 from sloping to folding hopper? We don't use the chipper much at all but watching the lads feed it and mess about is painful. I'm considering changing the hopper to a fold down hopper which will be a lot better for us. I know the outlet bit from the chipper needs.modification etc, also the link between the stop bar and HYD spool for forwards and backwards would want altering etc. Just seeing if it's viable or if anyone else has done this? If so it will save me 10-12k which is what I would.have had to spend to replace it, freeing that brass up for something else. Cheers

    Chain oil

I ran veg oil for a few years and was ok then the plastic oil worm drive gears started to strip... Went back to mineral oil which is peanuts! I've been considering switching onto Clarke's bio oil but the cost is huge compared to mineral! And even the 205ltr drums don't give much discount at all.... Me being a tight bugger I still havent decided what to do
  18. Right this is the new whip from now on. Just spent the last few weeks going through it getting it ready for work
  19. Yes they are a good do. Can pay in up until your 50.... The. Start to draw tax free from 60 And yes bang 4k a year in and get 1k off the government, what's not to like?! Not something I will rely on but it's definitely something I take advantage of and will top me.up when I get there
