  1. I've not so long since bought a rough old grab for loading biomass logs into 40 yard bins. Don't give a toss if it bends or breaks etc that's what a welder is for. Seems more than up for the job so far. Was a cheap grab bought off face book and just welded some new brackets on
  2. Yes i think I might go the lano guard route on my recently purchased pickup seems the flavour of the month at the moment
  3. Using my digger the other week to get logs to the roadside so timber trailer could get to them. Then for shoving the grinder about on site. Good setup as once I had ground a few and was facing the other way the digger could back fill the other holes and tidy up as we went Vintage rules long live the old girls !
  4. I am what I am 😂 Nothing wrong with working machines of that age. My 2.7t is a 2000 model and I've no issues. I like it's robustness. Maybe 2000-2005 ish then. Will see whats about. With regards to age, everything breaks and wears regardless of age and hours. So it's much of a muchness to me. I take pride in running older gear and earning money esp over those who are highly leveraged
  5. I have a hankering for a 6t machinenin the new year. I like older stuff usually so mid to late 90' or early 2000's. Any makes or models worth a shout at this age? Budget maybe 10-12k. Nothing set in stone yet but been looking at some machines and seems achievable. Would be for a grab and shear. Maybe a flail at some point. Thanks
  6. An you get a 13t digger in with a shear or grapple saw? No climbing or messing then hopefully. Then you could cut, chip and clear what's on the floor when the machines done
  7. Some stumps ground out today
  8. **************** me. I thought I had some animals work for me before but that's the 2023 award for worst chipper disc surely. Not surprised bearings are shot
  9. Morning, Up early on a Sunday as unfortunately off out quoting as been doing 6 days a week working for a little while to get done before Xmas. Roll on Wed or Thurs this week and I've had enough
  10. It's hard work really on the size and power job. Yes I do want more power but I like the overall size (and width more importantly) of my case mx110. I can get in most placed. That is doing 135hp on shaft so maybe 150hp engine. I thought the 6155 deere were OK? But you want more power? 😂 lads local to me run them and have them chipped up and like them. They've just swapped an older one in for a 6185. About 130-135k though ouch! Either way, more power for road work is always a bonus
  11. Timber off site today to clear the ground
  12. I did something similar years ago but not with a mulcher.. Test driving a mf399 I bought off someone on here and the side panel dropped off on the road Test 😂 luckily wasn't run over so put it back on
  13. I ran rotatech in my old 530t no issues
  14. I put some rotatech blades in a 1928 the other week. No issues at all. Doubt I'll even sharpen them just throw away once fully turned and get new at the price they are. Speaking to qrms the other week I believe they are going to manufacture them also
  15. I tried the other year to get hold of a proper cap off predator. They sent me the wrong one which was for newer machine. And then it was a case of computer says no and told me my machine was too old lol 😂
  16. I've had a look tonight at the measurements and the one in the link is smaller ..... I'm actually considering buying the female part to this and just welding on top of the tube that comes out of the tank now.... 🤔
  17. Cheers Bob, will give it a whirl
  18. What did you go for John?

    D-Max

Mate bought one new in 2014 and still has it now maybe 85-90k on it. He's on Cooper discoverers at3 I think and loves it. Says he always gets a good mpg from his. I've just bought a 68 plate that's done quite a few miles up and down motorway. Clean as owt underneath! Really need to get it waxoil! There were 2 other motors I looked at 2019. One a fence contractors and one a farmers. Both rusty. I think maybe if folk treated their motors when new with waxoil and did each year maybe rust issues may not be as bad?

I'm about to dip my toe with a dmax soon. Not many clean 2.5 about but plenty of 1.9s for sale
  22. What sort of gap though? As was thinking surely the buggers can just get their heads through?
  23. Surely you could just weld some 16mm solid bar in between the tines half way down maybe just for support. That's what I'd do
  24. Just after some advice and info about deer fencing around trees. We have some 3.5-4m trees to plant and they need deer and rabbit fencing around. I was thinking once posts knocked in approx 6' tall 4 posts and then bars across to each and maybe some chicken wire at the base and dug into the sod. Don't know if that's over kill but I feel it's going to take some time and materials! Not looking forwards to this part so asking if anyone knows of other methods or something I may have missed out? Thanks
  25. Someone posted up on the fb arbtalk a few weeks back k how they had snapped a tine off one of the intermecato grabs and posted a pic. A few other folk saying they're made out of cheese now and quality gone down.... I suppose with anything. They can break and bend etc
