  1. "My experience, tells me anyone who speaks to potential staff that way is getting the BS out of the way from the word go and will actually be a pretty decent guy to work for." agree 100%!!
  2. ohhh well done,,,
  3. started off only trees,,, then 2 customers asked "do you do hedges?" hardly going to pass the work up,,, was straight up and said i never had, but i'll have a go,,, did the first 50 metre job,,, he asked how much i wanted,, i said pay what you think it's worth... I now do hedges, lawns and i know a guy that mills and is a stoner... (like the double entendre tom?:-) to be honest i thought the reason tree surgeons got into fencing was to repair damage caused during tree operations..
  4. you need to meet stevie little tree,,, he'll be doing ALL of what he's asking,,, lets remember,, this thread was not a discussion either,, it was an add for a job in the employment section fellas.....

  7. to be honest i'm amazed at the way some of you treat your potential customers on the phone,,, steve is 100% CORRECT!!! i'm doing a big job at the moment,,,i was chatting with the guy last week, asked him why he took me over any one else,,, he said he'd had 3 other "major concerns" in before me to quote for the job,,, 2 of them didn't even get into the wood to look, the third did,,,none of them even submitted a quote...... i popped a card on receptions desk (you know,, that thing that seems to be frowned upon in here) i went to look,,, sure it's a big job i thought, a challenge yes,,, but should keep me going a bit.... the grand total is going to be over £7k!!!!! all for being nice on the phone,,, stevie,,, i'd groundie for you any day of the week,, but the truth is i havent got the time as i'm a bit busy down here,,,
