  1. Maybe the tree officer is mates with the applicant? If the area is TPO'd then i agree with what you say. Obviously i'm not the expert here which is why i suggested contacting district councillors to ask for assistance. Planning officers can just manipulate policies to suit their agenda. However maybe they will put it down for refusal before planning committee.
  2. Contact the head planning officers, district councillors. Ask for clarification. Threaten use of ombudsman if they ignore you and your comments. Get 10 letters of objection and committee will decide the application.
  3. Yes prob Grey Willow/Sallow. Salix cinerea. There are 2 subspecies - cinerea/oleifolia . Also hybrids may look same as the species. Too much info prob👀
  4. Any of it in leaf? Bit difficult to tell without.

    Chain oil

Much better smelling- like chips frying🍟
  6. Ok, cheers fellas, i will go for the pro one👍
  7. Does anyone have experience of doing the one day Lantra tree inspection course? I am thinking it might be a bit too basic and might not learn much new, having done tree work on and off for 25+ years. The professional 3 day course states it is for experienced tree inspectors- so why would you do this course if you are an experienced surveyor/inspector..?
  8. It's the neighbour's, so might be issue.
  9. Your insurance company would prob need to be notified when taking out home insurance. It looks like it could be a problem if it gets much bigger.
  10. No prob. See if it gets new leaves in Spring. If by Summer it's looking poor then it is prob on it's way out...
  11. Check near the base of trunk for signs of decay. I felled a similar one other day with leaf loss. Prob only 15% of 'healthy' trunk keeping it alive...
  12. Prob not- i would think leaves have dropped..
  13. Poss a Cockspur Thorn..
  14. As previously mentioned- can you post some photos of the trees?
  15. Ok- prob not it.
  16. Sorbus x intermedia?https://images.app.goo.gl/WW3ewsgxQWuaweGy8 Bark similar to this web image, although not quite the same.
  17. Looks a bit like Portuguese Laurel ( there's 2 'types'). Not sure though...
  18. Small scale burning of firewood must be preferable to burning fossil fuels. If it's a 20 year old branch you burn then it is only releasing carbon in it's structure captured over 20 years. This is better than releasing carbon that's been stored underground for millions of years- i think. The more i can put on my woodburner the less oil the boiler burns. As for industrial scale burning- i don't think felling whole forests is the future. Also scientists say the global lockdowns have had little effect on reducing co2 emmissions. Perhaps the sceptics are more right than people think and the planet is doing 'it's own thing' which we have little influence over.- not saying it's true...
  19. What happened to all the schemes for willow biomass powerstations- i think the subsidies were removed on them maybe?
  20. Ok thanks- i tried bigshot once and did not like it much. I will make the spud gun👍
  21. Are you still using the air cannon? Just looked on Youtube and a guy in US had retired his to use Bigshot instead...cheers
  22. Ok- misread - tis a poplar.
