  1. Ok- misread - tis a poplar.
  2. Willow is hard work to cut along the grain. Find a nice piece of poplar. Also i would think poplar is fair bit lighter than willow when dry and very different sound be achieved than from willow. Alternative- hollow a cricket bat.🎻
  3. Not alot for them to work with- basically it's glorified pollarding. They look to have cleared growth away from roof and left a bit for shape. It's not that bad. Street trees in Europe are cut right back every few years. Yes it could have been done to leave a better shape but i don't think it's owt to get nobbed off about.
  4. It's been pollarded to fence height previously- so if it can survive that it demonstrates how it will/should grow back again. All ivy could have been removed. Many European street trees are pruned back hard and regularly. Not saying it is great, just it'll be right.
  5. This old article off web is quite informative on some aspects of SRT- https://treetools.co.nz/_blog/Blog/post/The_7_deadly_sins_of_SRT_Ascent/

  6. Cheers Dan?
  7. I haven't, but i will do- thanks for the advice? Does the sprocket need changing as well?
  8. I have the Makita 18v top handle- saves using the Silky, just not as neat cutting for pruning. Also got the 36v top handle- only used it once other day but impressed with speed and power. Bit heavy when cutting horizontally, but for £200 i think its v good value. Also gone mainly cordless with the hedgecutters- for much lower vibes. Not quite got the power of petrol but job times similar and much better re carpal tunnel symptoms. ?
  9. Cofra boots are ok. A few models- ones with green leather at top for about 70 or 80 i think...?
  10. Thanks?
  11. Hello Peter, coincidentally i have contacted them- booked in to do a course in Sept. So i asked Andrew and they could have had an inspector check it with their kits today. But i was gonna be pushed for time to get it there for today. He was helpful but kept his cards close to his chest and did not pass the fella's name/contact details. Business is business i suppose...I did contact another inspector but nothing came of that. Possibly might send it to FR Jones but price be 4 times what i did pay for 2 kits up here...?thanks anyway. I might ask Morton again...?
  12. Still looking for LOLER inspector Leeds/York. Settle and NE too far. Think quite a few also looking... Thanks
  13. I have heard it's best to reduce it over a number of years- possibly in 2 or 3 goes if heave is a risk. It might need an expert who charges alot to tell you this or not...
  14. Ok, thanks for the info?

    Arbsafe

I was looking on here a few years ago and seem to remember a facility/database for recording your machines on for insurance purposes- did this exist?.If so, is it now the Arbsafe site? Also, do insurance companies accept this as proof you owned the gear in event of theft? Reason being, some of my saws are 20+ years old and invoices long gone. Thanks
  16. Yes, he is now part of the globalistic takeover. Good opportunity for someone to do Lolers in the area. Money for old rope- maybe there is not much to be made...
  17. Mr Philpott is no longer self employed.
  18. Old thread- does anyone know of Loler inspector Leeds/York. ? Thanks
  19. I think its nearer Wakefield/Leeds...
  20. Hello, does anyone have any recommendations for tree surgeons in or nr. Ossett. Too far for me. Its to reduce a Cherry i think, overhanging from neighbours. Looks about 40 ft.. Thanks
  21. I have done that exact thing this week. Having to provide estimates for future wages and proportion of landscape maintenance work against tree work is a ball ache.
  22. I thought that was maybe so. I have a small Atco push for some small lawns where i need to carry the machine over steps. It collects better than my Toros and the Izy( which i retired due to its poor performance) .
  23. Snapper NX-90V Lawnmower Petrol 21n 53cm Cut WWW.CHEAPMOWERS.COM This sounds good on paper but who knows. The best allround mower i have used is the Toro 21 inch Heavy Duty - mine is a Hayter one but same thing more or less. Mates with Honda pros have had gearbox problems. I personally would not buy another Honda- Izy push used to be good. Later models had plastic bushes instead of ball bearings. Absolute crap.
