I remember well our first baby born 19 years ago. He had colic for the first 6 weeks and didn't sleep for longer than an hour at a time. Wife and I were both totally zombified. My mum took him for a night so I could go to my secretaty's daughter's engagement party. It was probably a good night but as we were both so tired we were tucked up in bed sleeping by ten oclock!

Routine s absolutely critical or you will crack up. I have 3 lids who are now 19, 17 and 12. From day one it was bath, bottle and bed about 7.30. Don't keep them up late to make sure they are tired and then crash out. Babies love routine and it sets them up for when they are older. You need your own time and a routine with dishes, washing, bottles etc is also important. We took it in turn to feed them. One of us would sleep all night and the other would do the 2am feed. By the time of the third one we had it down to an excellent routine and were very slick at the whole game. Good luck with them

After you have sanded it down make sure you remove any dust left on it otherwise after you have varnished it again the surface will feel like sandpaper

Just be careful when buying one. I know a guy who worked for the council transport dept. He had a shot of one for cleaning his BMW. Too powerful, it stripped a large area of paint off the back of the car and it cost him a fortune for a respray:lol:

I was actually described as a hobo by my 12 year old daughters pals last week. I actually dress to keep warm when I am milling logs or in the workshop. Don't really care what other people think, got well beyond caring about that a long time ago!

Can anyone who owns one of these or similar take a couple of photos of the right hand side of the saw with the clutch cover removed. Unfortunately when taking the saw apart I didn't see exactly how the disengaging lever spring fits exactly as if was on my blind side whilst removing the brake mechanism. I have looked at the ipl but it isn't too clear. More experience with huskies and stihl but I think its worth pursuing with this saw. Many thanks to everyone who has replied so far.

You are being ripped off. Get the ends waxed and dry it yourself. You could contact local woodturning clubs and offer it for sale yourself when it is dry. Make a lot more money. Would be a good idea also to ask them what their preferred sizes are and cut to those sizes in future if you want to do more milling. You could perhaps undercut him by 10 - 20% to help sales and this will help underwrite your own woodturning costs.

Unfortunately there are people out there with more money than sense and would possibly part with that kind of money for a "lump of polished wood" Stretching the description slightly to call it a chair though. Possibly might be a stool, but I suppose if you call it a chair you can con them out of more money. Handy as well if we have power cuts this winter. Just chuck it on the log fire. Probably the most expensive firewood in the world!

She (Lady Porter) sold off hundreds of council houses in Westminster where she was the council leader. Private developers moved in and built hundreds of private houses. She did this in order to gain more Tory voters. It took about 15 years of enquiries/court action before she was convicted and she had fled to Israel before the conviction. Don't think she served any time and I think she was fined about £12 million or so. Bit hazy now as it was quite a few years ago and I am recalling from memory. -
Isnt that criminal damage if they don't own the tree. The tree surgeon should never have touched it.

We have the same problem in Fife! Tens of millions of pounds have been spent clearing up the bings and holes in the ground. When my mum moved up from Devon to Fife in the early sixties she said Fife looked like the moon. Mike

Just had another look at the saw. The bar has extreme wear on one side. Looks like he forgot to put oil in it and then used if for a while or the oil pump was blocked and he continued using it. The saw would have been overheating with the extra friction and work it had to do. Is it possible to cook the coil in such a scenario. just looking for possible causes as the saw hasn't done too much work?

The saw has started once but died within a couple of seconds. Checked the spark plug and it is nice and clean and there is a good spark to the body of the saw. I will give the switch to the technician in the business next door on Monday. Checked out the coil price on Miles tool site and it is £80 quid. Cheaper to buy the switch so I hope it is the switch needing replaced. Cant take it apart as it is riveted together and only has one lead on it. Cleaned the contact but no joy yet. Have to wait till Monday now. Thanks for your advice so far guys Mike

Just been given a hardly used above saw by a customer when I delivered some logs. Told me the coil pack needs replaced. Can anyone tell me how to check for this and where is the best dealer to get one from. Mike

My biggest machine is my panel saw which has a 5kw 3 phase motor and I run a 3/4 kw dust extractor and a few lights at the same time . Probably max at any one time of 6kw

Have to agree with Skyhuck on the ropiness factor. If that had been my first cut any subsequent cuts would have been for firewood! Whilst not every board has to be pristine for furniture there are too many inclusions for my liking and the middle of the facing cut log looks like it could be very soft. It will warp and split like hell as it dries. I don't have plenty of free space for boards like that and they normally end up in the stove. Maybe I am spoilt for choice with plenty of free top quality logs! Most of my work is very high end cabinet work for whisky companies and I am very fussy about my timber. That's why I got into milling my own logs in the first place about 15 years ago Mike

I would love to have that in my workshop. I really really hate paying for leccy from the robbing bastard power companies. Heat the workshop with a stove but unfortunately need leccy for the machines. If there is any way round that I'm up for it. Do you have a ball park figure in mind and can you claim subsidy fits etc? Mike

My old an was in the RAF from 1947 - 1952 before he got invalided out. Remember him telling me a story once. The old way of starting the aircraft manually was to stand and spin the propeller hard and kind of swing your leg out of the way so it didn't hit you. One day a new guy did it and the engine fired. He forgot to swing his leg fast enough and the propeller caught him and sliced a large part off one of his buttocks!

My mate bought an ex demonstrator one from Autoservices in Perth a few years ago and he bought an army trailer from a dealer near Dumfries for when we go milling logs. It gets a good mpg and acceleration is very impressive compared to his landy 110. he got the back seats taken out so he could chuck his firewood in it an a big warn winch on the front. He has just fitted a bloody big roof rack to it so he could stick his 088 with his 60'' bar on the top. Looks very impressive.
