  1. Very nice .. Any of those out of my bits ?
  2. Think ours were .225 cbm @ £30. Refills @ £25 , prices adjusted for larger quantities , very local delivery only
  3. I think you do get a few bad eggs on it but if they're that bad they won't get any decent feedback , if you keep giving the reputation cards out after each job your feedback score will go up and be up to date while the dodgy folk will fall behind. We get alot of work from it and according to he who pays the wages it is by far the most cost effective form of advertising we use
  4. Thanks for the info For the record I haven't had a prob with the glass other than a Couple of early issues due to me being a noddy, I only clean it because I'm starting to get a bit anal about this wood burning lark. Now where'd I put that moisture meter ?
  5. Hope you don't mind me asking and sorry for derailing but do you know why my stove only has one air control at the bottom ? it's a handol 51l and I think it's designed to burn just wood .
  6. Pretty new to this stove malarky myself but wet newspaper dipped in the ash works for me , I give it a once over every morning and it isn't much of a job. I do find that I only get a nasty dark build up if I shut it down too much/early but the worst of this will burn off if I crank her right up.
  7. I'm pretty sure that when we sent our boys on a rigging course recently they were only allowed to use crabs for clipping Into slings and were not allowed to use them in place of a timber hitch.
  8. . Hope that worked. Sorry nothing to scale but it's pretty large and makes me look twice every time I pass it .
  9. Thanks for all the replies seems I'm almost doing it right , the reason I wasn't sure about putting kindling directly on the embers is the amount of smoke this seems to create and was worried about this leaving more crap on the liner , Not heard that one about paper before but I'm pretty sure the manufacturer recommends it for the initial lighting. On a different note the dozy fella that installed it managed to smear the cement on the door and it's annoying me , any ideas of ways to get it off , I don't want to damage it with anything abrasive or particularly want to paint already Thanks again
  10. Running the risk of asking a stupid question here but as I'm new to wood stoves I'm gonna go for it. When I return to my stove in the morning and find a nice pile of hot embers , what's the best way to get it going again ? Is it as simple as more paper , kindling and logs or is there a trick I'm missing. Some one I used to know reckoned he just opens the vents and his would burst into flames of it's own accord ,so I'm either doing some thing wrong or he was mr Billy bullpoo.. Thanks in advance
  11. Have you any more info on this pls, our containers stay pretty wet all winter
  12. My 020t that I'm still running for weekend work ( bit noisy though without the baffles )
  13. Our came from bag supplies as above , moved a few yesterday and they're def not gonna last , logs punching holes in the sides and holes in the base with minimal dragging The vented sections seem to be holding up better than the rest of the bag
  14. And there was me worrying about burning chippie off cuts in my shiny new stove in case they'd been treated. must be the manufacturers instructions getting me paranoid
  15. You could try DB garden services in Bookham they have a fair sized machine
  16. Forgot to say they work pretty well with the arbor trolley , stand it on it's end loops over the handles to fill and pull it up ramps onto truck.
  17. We bought 50 and were slightly disappointed with the quality , they just don't seem as robust as your average builders sack Rather than getting customers to pay a deposit we want to sell them the bags and give refills at a fiver less , don't know how it'll work out yet as were new to logs and very small scale .
  18. Not too much to tell I'm afraid the rope had done a few years work with one tiny nick , I retired it when I was given a fancy braided rope and put it in a bag in the loft and there it stayed. I wasn't there when he failed it but I think he had previously only given it another six months and probably didn't want to push his luck. I did see on another thread here there is no age limit on climbing kits but I'm no expert myself.
  19. I took my 17 year old 8 strand nylon multiplat in the day our kit was due to be lolered , chatted with the inspector , told him that it had been stored in the loft for the last 10 years and it passed with him stating there was nothing wrong with it . Can't remember if it was 6 months later or a year but it eventually failed even without any damage or extra visible wear.
  20. Yep sorry. All gone Someone had the lot Well they would have if they could fit them all on , still got a couple of lumps to pick up.
  21. Thanks for the interest everyone I will get back to you when I get a bit of time . Sorry I have no idea what the wood is worth other than guessing how long it will take to split it and how many bags we'd get (which would be a shame) but there's a couple of offers out there so hopefully it will get a good home. all I can do is tell the boss what I've been offered and let him make the decision. Thanks again
  22. I have been asked to try and sell these logs as there taking up too much space and we'll never get round to doing anything with them ourselves . They are between two months and four years old and have been stored on a hard standing, sorry I haven't measured any but have left some things in for scale. If anyone wants to make an offer or suggest where I could sell them they are more than welcome. they are 5 mins off the A3 near Kingston on Thames with good access.
  23. I've been given a rough guide of £100 per meter for the lining, this was from a shop so I'm guessing this is the top end of the market you can buy the liner on-line at about £17, or £30 per meter for a heavy duty one , the stuff you backfill with is about £20 for 100 litres, not sure how much all the other bits and bobs are . I'm still waiting for a quote to install my stove and he'd better hurry up its getting nippy !!
