  1. We had all the maintenance done by the local dealer so we assume we get the best parts for the job fitted by the people best trained for the job. I cant help but think on this occasion that one of the bearings was substandard or something didn't get fitted correctly.
  2. New blades with the new bearings .
  3. Our other machine has gone about 500 hrs without any preferential treatment.
  4. 40 hours after being replaced the flywheel bearings have gone again. The machines been returned to our dealer who insists that the only reason the bearings have gone is that the blades are blunt and he thinks they haven't been changed in 40 hours. Although we are pretty sure they have been changed we haven't kept records so cannot prove it. The machine didn't have to be completely stripped we are still being billed and the man who pays isn't happy. Any thoughts would be appreciated as we believe that 40 hrs is a ridiculously short life span even if the blades haven't been changed. Cheers all
  5. I wish my books weren't still packed away from moving house and that I didn't have a screaming 9 week old baby in my arms as I might be able too research a bit better ............

  11. I have often wondered how rare they are myself as there seems to be a hell of alot about any evening I fish or loaf about in the garden. Only once in 17 odd years have I encountered them in a tree, in split limb in a beech , don't know the species I'm afraid but the body was about the size of my thumb .
  12. I was under the impression that the heat generated from composted chip would kill off any seeds or spores , I have used arb waste chips as a mulch and have never seen any obvious detrimental effects.
  13. I thought all climbing equipment only had a 5 year shelf life and cannot pass a loler test if older than that.
  14. Sell all your kit , you'll all be out of work soon. Become self-sufficient in firewood - Telegraph
  15. Done . Not trying to put a spanner in the works but would having alot of input from people on this forum not make the results slightly biased or have you done something to balance it out. (gas fitters forum maybe).
  16. I have a one that I was told was chinensis at my parents and from memory the leaves were alot thinner and lighter in colour. I'll try and get a piccy tomorrow.
  17. Cant see any obvious problems with it. If you're unsure about anchor points try a test cut to see if the woods still sound..
  18. Yeah Cherry just like I didn't say the first time.
  19. Or maybe a bit of dead Sorbus ?
  20. I think the cones are poss wrong for taxodium and the foliage seems softer, less yew like if that makes sense.
  21. sempervirens with frost damage ?? Cupressus arizonica or glabra ??
  22. If it is poisonous someone is trying to kill the goat that lives by our yard as it gets armfuls of fresh ivy fed too it on a pretty regular basis.
  23. I tried several think I started with 10 and worked up to 200 all the same results I think.
  24. If I search with my KT19 postcode the nearest result was in Hampshire I think, yet a search in Surrey brings up the Logman in horsley
  25. If I search using my postcode I get a different result from using my county (surrey) ,so something needs tweaking.
