  1. Looks like the first ones pretty much sorted thanks but the second still undecided I had already ruled out Parrotia as the leaves were too symetrical and the bark not right and i thought cornus from a distance but the leaf veins neither had the stringy bits when pulled apart or were arranged correctly (curved from one end to other banana-ish) (makes sense in my head)..
  2. The good news is there free to anyone that wants them but unfortunately we don't have access to a machine.
  3. Need to get rid of this little pile if anyone wants them. 5 minutes off the a3 near Kingston , good access.. General mixed hard and soft wood witha couple of big maccie's on the top
  4. Stem looks very Robinia like and the leaves possibly like pyrus salicifolia but ive only seen them as weepy ornamental ..

  8. Top one some kind of lime , Elm leaves arn't symmetrical at the petiole if that makes sense and the second one does look like an ornamental maple so prob the one sawman mentioned
  9. My lumps are varying in age from fresh up to about 4 years old and 10" t0 12" diameter, the oldest bits are showing small splits in the ends and I wasn't sure whether to cut the ends off before applying pva to prevent them splitting further ( the bark is starting to peel off if this makes any difference ) Also I read somewhere you need to season one year per inch and wasn't sure if this was right as I don't want to wait that long.
  10. Looks fantastic , how thick are the boards and how do you intend to dry them? I've been saving up some lumps that I'm gonna get milled soon to hopefully make a fire surround and some shelves and am a bit worried that my time, money and wood will be wasted by not drying them correctly. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
  11. I have noticed/removed several dying/dead mature yews within the last few years, the crowns gradually thinning before they give up , no idea whats behind it but there definitely something wrong.
  12. schumardii ?
  13. Haven't seen any lately but I had several Buzzing me up a gum tree a few years back, found it quite unsettling until I realised they were far more interested in the tree than they were me, they seemed to be chewing on very light areas of bark damage.
  14. Ah I didn't realise there were no postage fees, that prob could have been made clearer on the phone. Next time I'll compare your costs against another supplier who charge for postage but said they gave me an additional discount.

  18. I have always have had good service from Jones, but when half way through the day I want to phone up a shop to order some bits and bobs I don't want to pay an extra £10 for the privilege ,Business went elsewhere I'm afraid.
