  1. Wrong again I'm afraid the best way to regenerate an old yew hedge is to take it right back to the stems, no stubs or growth points, hit it hard..
  2. Don't clip leylandii, lawsons, maccies tight overwinter, leave em with a bit of fluff to protect against nasty cold wind and frost.
  3. I always thought the used stems about 6" round and quartered them to get the right combo for longbows. May well be wrong though.
  4. OK ta, I'm at Turners btw if your wondering who's being nosy, Think I saw you at the rose nursery the other week dumping some yew.
  5. Ta Can he dispose of the timber as well or do you have to give him somewhere to unload ?
  6. Someone needs to photoshop that crane out sharpish.. Who's lorry is it if you don't mind me asking?
  7. I heard you can use the third lane with a trailer as long as you're reversing so technically you are not towing Please don't blame me if you get caught though as it may not be correct Prob best not to attempt it really.

  11. Just to clarify I know what it is. Bark would normally be a distinctive feature but it didn't look typical on this and I couldn't get close enough for a pic.

  16. Keep coming back not knowing what to write.. Thinking of you here, puts things into perspective again and makes me realise how lucky I've been in life. Stay strong fella.
  17. Fig? Ficus benjamina maybe.
  18. I was told it was a method to use in an emergency if you had to rescue some one, but it relied on someone on the end of your rope to belay you if you fell rather than friction, you just ensured your rope was over a few branches rather than spiralling round and round which would create too much friction.
  19. Hydraulics ? Hydraulic Chain Saw Wood 20" Blade | eBay I have no idea whether this is any good btw, its just the first one google found for me.
  20. Looks good Ta.. Do you know it or did you look it up?

  22. How on earth do you expect to keep up without a copy on your bedside table.
  23. Is the pic def of the author? We always thought it was of John Whitehead, one of our lecturers at Merrist Wood in the 90's.
  24. I'm sure someone will know better than me but it only affects young or heavily pruned trees and they generally recover.(I think)
  25. Powdery mildew ? Don't think its a big problem on a healthy tree.
