  1. Fella I used to work for had a factory built one, don't know if it's still in action but there were three accidents while I was there, one pretty serious several fingers both hands I think. Apparently the guy panicked and instinct made him push the brake pedal.
  2. Weve had one for a year or so, Its had a brake band go and a bolt came out the exhaust other than that it's been faultless. There's allways a battle for the husky ground saws up our yard, he who arrives late gets the stihl's.
  3. Thanks, I'll have a proper look later but think this will be coming in useful "cassi" (a helmet).
  4. "Plicarta means platted" Like all these little snippets got any more? Lawsons for me btw.
  5. Took down a dead birch many years ago, burnt the brush onsite and took the log away, I cant remember how we noticed but had to stop half way back to put the back of the truck out.
  6. Mmmm, The barks at the bottoms glowing where its in contact with the coals but the tops catching from the secondary burn, it may not be the perfect example but it def happens , not all or everytime but sometimes the top catches before the bottom. Bloody things flopped onto the glass now and I'm gonna have a hearth covered in glowing elm embers when I open the door. Last time I try and prove a point about which I don't care
  7. How about this then ? Well up to temp, bit of the barks burnt lower down but the secondary burn is causing the top of the log to catch I
  8. Think Hengest farm stopped taking, Mid surreys your best bet.
  9. It wasn't even up to temp when I took the photo, kindling was still burning so no secondary burn yet. As I mentioned earlier I've seen logs catch at the top and burn down like a match, not every time but it def happens.
  10. Not sure how well this shows it but the top of this logs burning before the underside, think it's just the flames rolling round making it catch Think you can just about make out its black at the top
  11. Definitely seen it in my stove, top of the log flames first then burns down like a match, it's not all the time but something every now and then triggers it.
  12. First, I'm in, got it.......... Bugger a conifer..................... god knows.......... Picea abies???????????????????????????????????????????????????????
  13. Count yourself lucky we bought four and regret it now. One of our lads has a stihl and def wish we'd gone that way.
  14. Ta, we have a few local drops at the mo but they fill up occasionaly and need other options.
  15. So will you clear loads of mixed arb logs from our yard in kt19 inc softwood and if so how much £ ?
  16. As above and as others asked how big is the lorry:001_smile:?
  17. What about for general mixed arb logs from kt19 ??
  18. I was refering to the terminology not the act, I don't give a monkeys what people do as long as it doesn't have a negative affect on others.
  19. Smoked some pot?? Think you may have learnt time travel too.
  20. We just pay a fortune to get rid of it as green waste.
  21. When I do use one its for comfortrable positioning and prob not as a backup tbh, not having one makes me very careful with sharp things and ropes.
  22. Back in the day with natural fork rigging and friction on the stem rather than capstans etc it was also handy to be able to move out the way quickly when rigging off chunks.
  23. When I trained I was discouraged from using a second anchor and it's kinda stuck, this was at merrist wood about 20 yrs ago. I do use one now but not as often as I should and it's the other end of my rope not a lanyard. Not a good thing but I have to bite my tongue sometimes watching the young uns strop in every cut they make thinking to myself "I'd have stripped that out by now and be on the way down".
  24. Looks like an otterbox then, I assume everyone went for the defender.
  25. Anyone got any reccomendations ? The lifeproof fre doesn't appear to be available yet and that seemed to be popular on previous models. The griffin one that came with it is simply not up to the job and as its only a 12 month rental contract I guess a better one is needed. Ta
