  1. Never hurts to brush up on simple names and terms (such as drive link, throttle interlatch, type C trouser, class 2 boots, etc, etc, etc.) Its simple jargon, but its saves loads when trying to discribe stuff. You will probably pass if you forget every name/term there is, but the assessment will feel like pulling teeth for both you and the assessor. Rolling off the correct name/term during the assessment will feel like a breath of fresh air to the assessor, and it demonstrates that you have prepared yourself. I have a HORRID memory for remembering jargon. The way I use is to sit down with pile of blank cards (about playing card size), and write the term on one side, and an explaination on the other. Just the writing helps me learn, and you have the benifit of being able to use the cards to self test yourself. As has been said, Don't get uptight during the assessment (and don't worry, after you have passed these, there are loads more ) All the best
  2. 30m Sq is bold, as the only times I have come across these, they have been verrrrry skiddy (me mum once had an stepping "stone" path made out of log ends that was a death trap). It there any wood (hardwood / softwood or species) that is less prone to turning into a skating rink, I wonder?
  3. Cracking! Glad to see a) Its not a "mountain" bike and b) Its got mud guards. I thought it was only me. Ho Ho.

    OOOPs!

lightweight. You didn't take the throttle linkage to bits. (its only confusing the first time Ha Ha Ha)........ very clean tho'
  5. Looks like our weather is as good as yours, for a change.
  6. You must of had a cracking climb around that crown. Nice and open, with some good branch walks. Are you considering spraying the chipper black?
  7. (and ignore the signature line, kids are great, and they get even better)

"jason stop it" sounds more like something young ladies may use to stop their boyfriends getting too randy
  11. now THAT is a garden fence. Once slipped on that palisade stuff whilst climbing into a substation, got an interesting little scar left to show for it. (last time I offer to get the frisbee back)
  12. Do you suffer from condensation dripping from the celing Rob? I had a similar setup a while back, and it dripped all the time:thumbdown:
  13. Do you rekon a long track down a tarmac road on the footplate of a jensen tracked chipper would have the same effect?
  14. Excellent. Glad to see its all intact after 2 months.
  15. When I first read it, I thought you said "Did some swimming aswell....." Hardcore, I thought. Ha Ha.
  16. Yeah, bumped, just like this Ha Ha. Best of luck by the way.
  17. The "work saddle" on the link looks fine to me. Nice and uncomplicated, and good for "scampering" I should think. The front attachment maillon (or "Galvanized Delta Screw") looks a bit pinchy though with more than 1 Krab through it, maybe upgrade it with a pear shaped maillon? any word on whether its CE etc marked?
  18. A nice set of pictures Ace, cheers. Looks more interesting than the pile of woodchipper assessment forms i'm currently completing. Lol.
  19. Please tell me thats a late april fool.......
  20. sorry for being a little "green" here, but do I take it that a waste transfer licence is different to a waste carriers licence (feel free to talk amonst yourselves / let your attention wander, if you have been through this all before )
  21. Is this to be renamed the old gits thread? At 37 I jacked in my cushy training/teaching number and went back on the tools doing powerline. Climbed all day every day for a couple of years. It was a bit of a struggle keeping up with the youngbloods to start with, but I was surprised how quickly I could hold my own. Eased off again now unfortunately (training and doing audits currently, but where's the fun in that), but next time I come over all "mid life", i'll jack it in and dig the ropes out once more. 40 ain't that old, I thought maybe 57 is old
  22. I thought "new" wood chip was no longer classified as waste? Maybe i'm confused once more
  23. No, she wore wellies of course. Anyway, she has become a vicar’s wife since then, so she is all respectable now (and a big fan of silky saws).
  24. HA HA. Don't think I have ever described my toddler as handy.
  25. For a large lime covered in Ivy, you may well find the ivy is still green in 3 months time. Removing ivy from trees that are being retained can take an age, and its propably not much quicker if its being removed. Could you not just dismantle Ivy and all?
