  1. Also try sontex think it is http://www.sontex.co.uk I have had a small one of there's for about 6 years now and it is still plodding on ok and mine was only a budget model Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Excellent and very true Definately not short of bad language in that little clip Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Have you actually priced a new one up? Only asking as stihl only wanted around £70 + vat for the ms660 tank if its going to cost £50 for a repair I would be tempted to spend the extra £20 and just have a new tank Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Although I have just replaced my ms660 tank with a new one as I couldn't get all of the crack without taking it off I got it useable whilst waiting for the new tank to come from china by an attempt at plastic welding Empty fuel tank and let breath for a couple of hours Get old spoon from kitchen Get blowtorch from workshop Heat spoon handle until bright orange and smooth over crack until it fuses together again Repeat a couple of times until sealed Of course you do this at your own risk but it worked for me so the tank only had a small weep left from the very top where I couldn't get the hot spoon into If you only have the one crack and haven't opened up the seam join then this should fix it fine Dave Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Am near brough on the a63 coming out of hull Will be sleeping even lighter than I normally do I think Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Sorry to hear that Getting a bit to close for comfort where abouts in east yorks are you It's blowing bad here at the moment so can't hear much going on outside which I guess is the ideal time for scum to be around Dave Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Shame you are so far away would have jumped at the chance of the London plane if you where closer but I think Colchester to Hull is a bit far for me to come for it Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Tis quite possible that in pulling around to look over that I have dislodged something in that area and not noticed before reassembly Just struggling to think what else it could be I guess all suggestions are pointing that way so in bits again after some tea Thanks for the assistance and suggestions just didn't want to strip it unnecessarily if anyone could think of anything else obvious that it may have been Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. I did check around manifold and impulse line and these both looked as new The rubber was still nice and rubbery and flexible no sign of cracking or perishing and not had more than 5 or 6 tank fulls of fuel through the saw since I bought it new Will give these another good check later as struggling to come up with much else to blame for the fault Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. Tank breather was new as was fuel line, filter and pickup I think for peace of mind I will have to take the carb off again and check everything is seated properly around where the rubber manifold comes through the plastic If it still does it then I will adjust it down slightly Just struggling in my head to think why it would have altered without any alterations being made unless there is an underlying reason such as an air leak between carb and manifold Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. Just whipped the side cover off and had a look clutch looks fine all springs are ok everything in there looks as new So I guess it is more likely down to carb or air leak somewhere Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. Clutch didn't give me any reason to suspect it as saw is only 11 months old and I have only used it half a dozen times from new - just happened to drop a tree on it It was running fine before replacing tank last night just leaking fuel - wasn't sure if removing the carb might have given it cause to alter its own tickover speed and other than removing absolute minimum to get tank off nothing else was touched and no settings altered (at least not knowingly) Will have a look at clutch anyway as I guess the beating it took when a sycamore landed on it may have caused it a shock load stop and damaged something in the clutch Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Had my 660 in bits last night to replace the fuel tank as the repairs attempted on the cracked tank where still weeping fuel slowly Finished it this morning with brute force on the metal handle near the chain brake to take the bend out of it so I could bolt it back on properly and fired it up to try it Seems as I would expect for an 11 month old 660 that has only been used a half dozen times except now the chain is creeping slowly on tickover and it never used to Chain tension is good any ideas if it is most likely a simple case of needing to reset tickover or is it more likely I have an air leak and haven't seated the carb against its rubber as well as it should be Any suggestions welcome before I strip it again Dave Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. Have a look through the stihl manual Will pm you where to find it in pdf Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Check carefully as it may not remain mot and tax exempt once you start using it commercially Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. And if you where in forestry for yourself as a firewood business then you would also be paying for the timber So the odd free tree if you normally pay for them is suddenly a nice bonus Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. I guess the clue is in the thread title Felling If someone offers me a tree for the wood and the access is good and it can be felled I may do it for free If however it needs dismantling and has to be climbed and brought down in small pieces to avoid objects below then not a chance It's not a service you shout out to offer but if the wood is good, access is good and you only have to drop it and cart it away then with the prices of timber roadside it can be worth considering if you do a lot of logs Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. And don't forget to sleep in it with a loaded shotgun next to you at the ready Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. If they are being sold at less than trade cost price there are 2 obvious ways this can be the case They are nicked and he has a shops worth of haul to get rid of They are legitimate and he buys up bankrupt and repossessed stock from the many legal sources for this type of stuff and has paid peanuts for them so can undercut everybody else and probably make more profit at the same time There was a programme last week on channel 4 about a guy who buys bankrupt stock and normally pays about ten percent of its value then shifts it on quick to someone else quickly for a small profit, they normally then take there time selling for a good profit Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Very nice Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. A proper beast of a saw Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  23. X eng pedal lock Not cheap but permanently fitted to floor and really easy to flip up and engage Pay as you go tracker from tiso electronics in Cheshire £199 + vat for unit then asda pay as you go sim Have both of these on my 130 and when I can afford it will probably also get x eng ignition lock protector and gear lock Dave Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Why don't you want gas ? I am guessing down to expected bottle costs but there is now Adams Gas available in mid size bottle something like £50 deposit on bottle when you get your first one then cost of gas but no cost other than gas when you change As far as welder goes mine is a sip topmig 170 that I have had for about 15 years now Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. Parts I normally use either island 4x4, AEW paddock or john craddocks Just need to pay for the right quality of parts as the cheapest ones in a blue box are not always any good Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
