  1. Ulterior motives, sorry to disappoint but i havent got any I was more curious to be honest, just seemed weird that it had sigh a high number bearing in mind an ascender only need to pass something like 8kn for safe use. just thought maybe it was originally being designed for something else and this came along.
  2. I can give a review of these, 10" AB tether for the hitchclimber pulley is spot on. Well made and a good fit on the crab, ive had one for over a month.
  3. Doing a lot of production climbing.
  4. Tom were more of the handsome, enjoy the climb climbers a bit like george clooney and brad pitt There more jason staham and jet li. More importantly when are you putting up "dangerous dan" "Crazy fool, ground cant hurt me" (in a mr t voice) video??????? Did anyone get a picture of michaels rope or should i say the exicution of
  5. The same part of the brain causes anxiety and excitement. Sometimes its as simple as when your anxious thinking and saying out loud this is cool, amazing, things like that. I used to do it when i first started climbing sometimes id get really nervous when i was doing stuff for the first few times and doing this made it much easier in the head. As for a lot of things i life you cannot do anything about so theres no need to stress if you do all you can then thats it, you cannot stress or try to work out why its just out of your hand. Hope this helps, Ian
  6. I cannot fault my 395xp, best and most reliable saw ive bought.
  7. This was pre climb cool i was worried for a bit that my review was on the wrong hitch. Do you think they will bring out a mkII with some improvements like a small pulley for easier tending.
  8. I think on spikes your wrong, a good, sharp and more importantly correctly fitted set are fine. As for horrific to wear try some of my racing ones, they will make any set feel like you have cushions around your legs. Spikes save a lot of time and allow great work positioning where a lot of trees might not have a foot hold. It also reduces the risk of rigging getting caught up in stubs. Just my input nothing more.
  9. On another note i might get into kit modelling........ no but really this is the setup we had with the Hitch Hikers Hitch. Is it right??
  10. So just for a giggle i had my ZK2 prototype loler'd today and well it failed. Id given it so much stick the silic pin area was not round but oval now. I'll aim to pop some pics up later on in the week for those who care.
  11. Cheers Pete, does anyone know why it has a 40kn rating by the way????
  12. Thanks shavey.for some reason can't open the link.never mind.you've provided me with enough info..I shall go and have a look.you're in winkleigh?I'm not far away.west chilla.all the best. Copy the whole url: Eggesford Forest - Part Two worked when i did that not clicked on the link.
  13. Well i had a play on joes at hatfield and was really impressed with it. on velocity it was very, very fast, responsive and well.... very good. Used with a frog walker it was spot on too.
  14. It was a limited play, but if I was having a go with the idea of buying it would of put me completely off it. I understand that it requires a lot of fine tuning. Also I found sometimes it failed to bite if I didn't sit hard on it. Just think it could of been designed so much better if a little more thought was put into it, like a pulley for easier slack tending and some way of using eye to eye cord to make it a little less of a faff.
  15. So yesterday we visited Hatfield, Big thanks to Joe for arranging it and was good to meet Mr Bowen and have a go on the hitch hiker. The large oak measured 95ft and had a huge burr on it, possibly the biggest ive ever seen. We had a little drive about the site and visited the Doodle Oak which was huge!! I climbed the coppiced stem that remains to get a couple of pics. We then found a nice pine to have a play in and dan went down the "death slide" Also we saw the biggest black walnut ive ever seen too. Great day, great weather and great banter. :thumbup1:
  16. As per recommendations, I think because I climb on a uni it was always going to be at a disadvantage because it tends much better. I just found it very cumbersome to use. Like I said a small pulley would make it soooooooo much better. I still think its also not as good as the RW or Uni because its a real time guzler to setup right and a pig if you need to put it in midline or remove it mid way up (not that this would happen a lot). I think I built it up to be better in my head and felt deflaited when I had a climb on it.
  17. Okay so today i had a limited but enough to give a review on the HH. Firstly it was terrible slack tending in from limb walks and really would benefit from a small pulley wheel like the zigzag has. It has a better feel than the RW BUT only in its positioning if your used to a HC, i found my pantin spent most the time taking 2 steps, 1 to tend the slack then a 2nd to step (never had this problem with a RW). On the plus side i did like its response and finite movements going out, but flawed by it slack tending return. So to sum it up in a few words: A poor mans uni. Dan Curtis, Adam Bourne, Tom Bowen and Joe Riley also had a play but i will let them give their own reviews.
  18. Id say more like luke warm
  19. Its going to have to be small chogs sadly, i think the bounce risk at the base will risk damaging of the fence or shed is too great for a vsl.
  20. Then you'd be slamming timber on the well. Im going to disagree over the speedline as even when i used my 4t winch we still got load sag. (not on this tree)
  21. 70-80ft??
  22. I got it yeah its a, sorry was a tall tree and shows what it would take to remove on of these giants.
  23. And what about weight transfer on the line?? even if your using 2 separate lines. One line it would be even greater. Speedlines are great if you can achieve jigher angles than its load point. normally i loose between 1 & 1.5m height when at the mid point under load. Its impossible to achieve a non sagging line.
  24. Nice, agree with Benn, also make sure your chain has stopped moving before putting it near your lanyard. Other than that pretty good.
  25. about 7ft, i honestly dont think a grcs lifting capabilities would win out here. Maybe of been handy to lift 2 of the rear limbs. If your balancing was wrong on a speedline then you would be reaching for your wallet to pay the client. The fall angle would be too great and wouldnt clear the object. Just one of those slow lowering in big pieces jobs. High risk with a not great reward as most domestic jobs seem to be these days. But stuff like this is what i do these days, i think it was a good few weeks ago i had a tree in a clear space which was a drop a go.
