  1. Great production for a client not too much showing more about a team at work.
  2. Some alone time with you joe and a certain Mr P BOOM!
  3. Good spot adam, it goes down 8m
  4. Really?? Speedline angle would be too short and clip the fence, the back stuff with the drop on the line the lowest limbs would of wiped out the fence and shed roof. Panels are nailed together, the client wasnt worried about them getting broken but in my eyes thats not the point. Felling it theres too much weight backwards and too much risk of smashing stuff or hitting the garage. The only other way this tree was getting down would be a crane from the main road or platform both of which would of out priced me on this job. More pics and did anyone spot the well??
  5. Well adam its in Canada, and is felling a medium sized tree duh!!
  6. 9hrs of in a tree time later....... today's 9 1/2 hour job, we've got to go back and chog the stem down. The wind was really blowing today and not the way i wanted it and the 2 sheds were still up which the client had said wouldnt be. He was fine with the extra cost as he'd had a quote to dismantle them and it was more than the tree job. We worked off an offset lowering point which put us roughly on top of the fence, wasnt too bad just very slow, For some of the timber though it made letting them run onto the drive easy so i guess it evened itself out. So ive been testing some Rock Exotica kit recently and well to say the UFO is awesome would be and under estimation, Linked up with a light rigging double crab swivel it was perfect for today's removal. High winds were in all day and we needed to land stuff in a certain position. Made easy, The rigging crabs are good too, very big gates so clipping in and out was pretty quick. Also we had a balanced limb, 3 smaller branches butt tied and a pull line all attached to the ufo at one point and it worked a charm.
  7. Sounds like a minor RSI or just posture thats wrong. Try using a pantin more to reduce strain on your shoulder and keep you body upright. Changing a system might work but the shoulders are used in all systems. Other than that maybe rest it, compression shirt or something someone else may have come up with.
  8. Cheers, Its nice when you get to do something out of the norm. I think the last one i did was to a weeping ash in a churchyard 8 years ago.
  9. We took out a dead laburnum in the garden so used that. No we didnt touch them as the seemed to be holding up fine until fruiting. I did say that when the trees sit on the props during winder when they have no leaves then we would be looking at shortening the end weight.
  10. We added 2 supports to trees we had been surveying for a few years and had signs of slow collapse when under load from fruit, so we put them in to be free standing most the time but able to support the trees when laden with fruit.
  11. Found this today and well thought it was a cool low budget music video. Please not theres shooting, fake blood and the song contains swearing so advice if your playing it with the music loud in front of children !
  12. Your very right, your life and identification of risk is going to be better than someone talking from a book on a simple situation. Very true, its good to get feedback and things other spot. I've learnt a few techniques too.
  13. Turners love it cut between the branches as the whorls give the bowls a wonderful look.
  14. I just makes sure im covered just in case something un expected happens. Once or twice but not as the explanation states "when normal work position cannot be achieved" (joking around)
  15. I couldnt spot him from my phone, BUT why did you continue without him wearing it??????? If my employee hasnt got his on first i stop everything, turn saws off and ask why not, happens again, written warning. In my eyes thats just bad site management allowing someone to be in a area of risk top the head. Not bitching or a dig, but if your putting up videos for marketing (as you have) then you really need to be super safe and looking to do everything by the book. (one handed saw). Many a time i havent used footage because of doing something wrong. Please dont use the excuse other have saying their reasons for posting bad habits in treework is because they wanted to show an honest video. Now im not saying bad habits dont save time and effort just saying that if your selling your service (youtube) then try to do it to "industry best standards" (and yes i do work srt which isnt in the old one) Just my honest thoughts sorry if it sounds harsh. Ian
  16. Just pulling your chain I chuckled when i saw your post.
  17. I use a short lanyard most the time and normally if theres something nearby attach a temp anchor to reduce the length of fall.
  18. Before you buy the best camera what are you doing with the movies?? Youtube?? if so anything that films around 720p is fine.
  19. For short ascents i just clip the pantin back in. Then chest and hand with footloop for long.
  20. Got to give some credit where credit is due. A young college lad Andrew Creek came along, never tried SRT to access a tree before. Set him up on the RW and pretty much that was it, he went straight to the top, was swinging about, limb walking to the tips. I was very impressed with his abilities to say the least.
  21. I have some i think form a while back. Cant wait until this saturday to compare the cedars.
  22. Thats where weve been stumped. Although with some recent discussions we might be able to make a 70ft false drop off point using my Rock E Ufo plate. Climb up into air and drop off into air. Think thats going to do the old mind in letting go. Really look forward to your next one, looked so much fun we had to try it. Did you see the one some kids made off a hill. 100ft on wires.
  23. I have one. I got stopped when i started out in business and they said your chip and wood is ok but the raking off site were not a virgin product. They guys were good enough and let me go on my way but i did get a letter through and i was told if i didnt i would be fined. Better to be safe than sorry. Especially as these government agencies have had money cut so they will be told to not let anyone off. (thats how i see it these days)
  24. Not trying to sound negative BUT..... it was more of a winch assisted fell rather than anything involving a stunt, flower beds and shrubs dont count and there wasnt really much i could see of risk value form the video. At least it saved you some time on te job, no climbing or chogging.
