  2. a couple more
  3. A long day today but worth it, 4 tonnes of wood chip and 5 tonnes of firewood (kindly taken by a guy who lived down the road).
  4. Good to have finally met you and some others (good chat with tractor62 and the burning tractor pic was brilliant) even if i had to leave on friday. Biggest surpize for me was on arbtalk that your location is kent, so i assumed you'd speak southern! nope! northern twang!
  5. Whilst watching man vs food this advert came up. PeteB did you have anything to do with this? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOIlJrvtOIM]Old Jamaica Ginger Beer 2013 Ident - Football - YouTube[/ame]
  6. Just got home as i had prior engagements tomorrow, great day good to meet so AT too, weather was stunning. Showed Steve, andy and a few others how not to throw an axe, 5 shots with a score of 0 Big thanks to Justin as its a well set out show, in great surroundings and some lovely trees. Heres the link to the climbing pics i took. Cheers Ian
  7. Sore hands? Is that because ive pre-ordered the pinkie edition with its flexibility and return to memory type pvc stuff.
  8. Nice video, is it dave coleman? Anyway, today i did the box hedge that if i put a lego guy in it, it would still be smaller. :)
  9. Awesome Steve, getting ready, weather looks good. Bring on the unintentional sunburn.
  10. Might spend some pennies.
  11. dam predictive text, Any before shots of close up mat.
  12. Blimey didn't spot the timber for a second or two. Any before shots or close ups matt?
  13. Great job Giorgio, great ground crew too making everything work smoothly.
  14. i'll second Safe eyes, best thing ive used.
  15. Hi John, Best option is to call around, be willing to travel a distance. Some firms will only want experienced freelancers (mainly climbers). I've used 3 fresh out of college guys and helped develop their skills over a couple of years, works well for me 2 climbers and 1 groundsman/rescue climber. In my opinion there is always work for anyone who is realistic about their experience and hard working. As the guys above have gained experience and been able to do more complex rigging/become more efficient at the task the wage goes up accordingly. Personally i prefer people to ring rather than an email in the first instance, to me it shows commitment and you get to have a chat rather than a monotone email. Go see your local tool shop they sometime know of someone looking for a subby/freelancer, if they dont leave a card. Perseverance and maybe start a thread mapping your progress, a bit like Mr Silky Fox has done, which id say have a good read of to get some ideas. Bit of a ramble but hopefully this will have some good points.
  16. They are okay and very well built, if you suffer from the heat it might pay (excuse the pun) to pay for some type A's for ground work. Stein plasma glasses i found good, Vertex vent is a nice helmet, gear is really subjective and id advise trying as much as you can before you buy. Hiax boots are good for the price, chainsaw gloves are well chainsaw gloves. I use safe eyes instead of goggles or a visor, they never steam up and sit so no debris can bounce into your eye.
  17. A bit of a deadwood, gave Tom a lesson in picture taking too trying to get the blurred effect when throwing some timber.
  18. Im guessing the operation is now fully healed? Be sure to get them on film, im not doing much interesting at the moment just a lot of deadwoods.
  19. 2:07 i love the pre brace of the hands. Looked nice and sunny Mat. What was the speedline terminated too? Also you havent lost any climbing skill with all those surveys your doing now.
  20. Cheers for the reply, Ive had it a few times with flower beds. I do think they all think the damage is going to be like a huge bomb hole in the ground. Pretty slick for 3 months, hes been shown well.
  21. Touche Mr Skyhuck Thats why i havent posted a few recently. Although if you can go big and deck it with large lowering then it is going to save time.
  22. Nice video, But it looked like a fair bit of it could of been cut and chuck unless there was something i missed. But i enjoyed watching it although being nearly 10mins long i did skip through some bits. Before i forget the guy running the rope was very good too.
  23. I used to when i set my business up. I did aggregates and tarmac form 6pm-6am to the M25 expansion. Worked out quite well because with the sign written truck in their main yard i won loads of tree work off them too. Its all about needs and must, i only needed to do it for a year then i had enough work load to stick fully with trees.
  24. Easy enough, just sorting out some large pines in coltishall hall.
  25. I did notice when i looked at your tree surgery section hedge cutting is blocked by the footer.
