  1. Darn it i read this and then got the little voice on my shoulder. Now have ordered one too. I really must put my credit card away from the computer at times like this.
  2. God he's annoyingly good. Awesome climb. Made me decide that i should give my lockjack another go or buy a spiderjack2.....
  3. Great work, love the 5th from last picture too very arty.

  13. Wow this guy has some bottle [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLRDRzMWIsg&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL]YouTube - Mountain Bike High Speed Record Accident[/ame]
  14. A bit of editing and this could of been 5-6mins long. I would of used a step cut gob felling type thing tho to give me more of and advantage when felling. . .
  15. Yeah, did one with a cherry branch 1st cut and as i lifted it off the wire........well the wire was a bit frayed and then fell to the ground. Client was outside too, never called me back to do anymore work there.
  16. This was very surreal watching the power of the tsunami which before it met land was traveling in the region of 500mph!!!! As it lost force it reached a height of a three story building!!! The death toll could of been much higher, thankfully the Japanese have and use tsunami warning systems but even still this was too large for the sea defenses. I feel for people who have natural disasters hit as i feel it just shows how little we can control our environment if nature decides to be nasty.
  17. I think so, they are 100% waterproof meaning you can take it on holiday and jump in the sea with it. There bomb proof pretty much without using explosives (see some of the gopro crash vids). The HD options are very good. Wroth saving the pennies up for. I did just add the lcd back screen to mine this week and its made it even better but that will put the cost nearer the £380 mark. The drift x170 is also quite good tho not HD but half the price so a great starting point if you wondered how much you will use it. I use mine for everything even photos when im out with friends. I think E-bay import or action cameras were the cheapest places about atm for them.
  18. Im sure its free. It was also in this months FCA magazine.
  19. Sounds very fringe project type.
  20. Good luck, looks really cool but i imagine its going to be very frustrating.
  21. This was sent to me via e-mail from Donald Maclean, wasn't sure if any of you were interested The HSE have asked us to let you know there are still some places available at the Safety Awareness event being held at Thetford on 31st March, 2011. They still have a number of spaces available for the afternoon session (and a few for the morning session). The event will be based at Santon Downham Centre. Anyone wishing to attend should contact [email protected] noting which session they would prefer to attend (am/pm). Details of Training The training last half a day and there are two sessions per day. Timings are - am session - 8:30-9:00 am registration - 12:00 finish pm sessions 12:30 - 1 pm registration - 4pm finish. The training is based around two scenarios (see below) - mechanical harvesting and use of chainsaws. The thetford event will focus more on on smaller scale machinery in comparison to the Scotland event to reflect the type of forestry work going on there. However, the principles and key issues discuss will relate to all types of forestry work. The approach is informal and we encourage as much discussion as possible. This means that we can always deal with other issues that come up. The events are targeted at both supervisors and contractors. As I am sure you are aware, this works really well. The training has been very well received in the past and is delivered by FC's training branch so is high quality. As mentioned above, although we do base the awareness training on two specific scenarios, the key messages we are getting across relate to all operations. The two scenarios are: scenario 1: Mechanical Harvesting / Extraction / Site management /Use of Machinery · Risks · AFAG guide · risk zones · stability · ROPS/FOPS/OPS · timber stacks · Machinery Demonstration · Bad points · Good Points · Training/Foci's · maintenance · LOLER · PPE · Noise · Vibration · OHPL Scenario 2: USE OF CHAINSAWS Points to include in "live"scenario delivery; · Stump forensics · types of cuts · safe methods of work · training, certification · PPE · first aid · risk assessment · lone working · dealing with emergencies · maintenance · dealing with hung up trees · use of winches · felling & manual takedown
  22. Two Birch fells nothing too spectacular. The cherry bits we speedlined out as we had to set it up for taking the back limbs out (and were running a bit ahead of schedule) so made sense to clip the front up too. 23. Nice job forsty. Got a Oak with coros for you tomorrow
