  1. Tie for me between Labyrinth (got to love the goblins) and Blues Brothers.
  2. Nice work sir, guess when you arrive in Canada you'll be classing these bits a small sections compared to what they have over there.
  3. Also you always here about the ones that went wrong not the ones that ran fine.
  4. Used mine now for 2 days on about 8 trees and im as impressed with this bit of kit as i was when i used my ropeguide for the 1st time. Much better than my lockjack swivel, found it readily advances on a long pull although when i was working above my anchor point it did seem to bind tight towards it. Really pleased with this bit of kit as i had thoughts about my lockjack sitting there collecting dust. I ended up setting it up like you have Joe as it seemed to 'feel' better as i was climbing on it rather than just one crab.
  5. Apparently not as its classed as engine management software updating not a modification as such? This is what my insurers told me as i wasn't willing to risk invalidating my insurance over a few extra mpg. So far then people Pulls so, so much better than before. Keeping my driving the same as before and should have see a rough millage gain from day to day running on Wednesday afternoon. If it keeps going as it is i will have done an extra 70 odd miles on the same amount of fuel as i ran before it was re-mapped:thumbup1:. So i guess that's a saving in itself. There's also less revs when pulling truck, chip and chipper so im sure this is where im gaining the extra fuel economy and less engine strain. So far im very glad i've had it done and will give you the exact figures Wednesday evening.
  6. Then you'll never get your line caught up with branches again. Alex laver showed me one back in 2000 when they had to be imported because there wasn't anything like them in the uk. Still going strong today.
  7. I use a ditty bag/ storgae bag, nod sells them Rope bags - Treeworker.co.uk im my sherrill one i have had about 9m in it. The large treeworker one is quite big so should hold 11-12m worth i recon. All you do is shove the excess into it.
  8. I like this one [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G67WOMGfH7E&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - Thats my purse!!! i dont know you (good/original version)[/ame]
  9. Rupe, i started leaving the ropeguide a little bit longer than i normally did and that seems to have solved that for now, but i was getting very stressed with them getting stuck because of the pulley.
  10. I try not to do forestry really. I haven't got the setup but on a crash and stack job it was a nice break from the norm. You didn't see all the kit we brought 'just in case' Im sure some professional foresters would of been laughing.
  11. Set my spiderjack2 up today only thing that i thought sucked a bit was i had to pull 45m of line through it to get it to the working end. Felt much smoother than my lockjack but i only played around a tiny oak with it and was very safe being a new thing to learn. Oh the hand over hand ascend bit felt weird too.
  12. Cheers for the picture joe. Just watched that monster one, starfoot sampling how high was that?
  13. Had bigger saws just incase we needed them and the tree was larger than our smaller bars so instead of bar and a halfing it we just picked up a bigger saw, simples.
  14. 1st thing i noticed was that no more screaming. Took a good load of wood chip today and was impressed with it. On sat i should have the chipper and chip mix so it will be good to judge that then. The edu thing? Went to 3 separate places one of which does edu mapping only and the other two were garages. I asked if there was anything naughty about doing this and all three told me your not modifying the truck just setting the correct engine management to your requirement. So put it this way the only difference between a 90,115,125 is the software! Same brake systems etc so if that was the case i guess we would all be driving 90's. If theres no info on the net about it (just spent a couple of minutes looking) them i think it might not be right.
  15. On computer, i'll put it on disc for you. Heres all 32 pictures http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/album.php?fbid=188669994507491&id=125192177521940&aid=39169
  16. No, thank-you for being so kind and running a competition that has a very awesome prize:thumbup1:
  17. Oh yes by a long way its a 2004 so one of the 1st Mk6's. On the plus side it was an ex-citycare one which i knew the history of too. serviced every 3 months:thumbup1:
  18. Ok, so i picked it back up at 11:30am since then i've been driving around my 1st impression was WOW. It has so much more go, got a full load of woodchip to deliver tomorrow so will see how she works under a load. Plus i can now overtake!!!!!
  19. here you go Vantuner.com | Professional, Specialist Van Tuning for most vans in the UK!
  20. I dont drive fast/ put my foot down tbh, just dawned on me when driving uphill with a load & chipper on that this can't be doing a lot of good to a 90.
  21. Basically if you know some firms/climbers near you ask to try there kit see what you like or don't like. The harness is the most important imo (not always the one that costs the most) you'll be in it for a few hours a day so comfort is key. Ropes etc you'll change as you develop as a climber, start with what you know i.e yale xtc, prussik in a few years you might be on yale imori and a vt. Just remeber you can always buy/improve you lines, knots, switch between grabs and shunts but the harness is the big one in reality. Oh and try different spikes as you'll love some and hate others. Hope this helps
  22. So im on here today as my transit is off being re-mapped. I'll drop onto mpg in a minute but this is my thought, getting the increase in bhp and torque will reduce engine wear as the engine strain will be less when carrying weight and towing (especially up hills). Thus reduce the risk of damage (not everyday wear) and increased longivity of the truck. currently its a 90hp and i do about 25mpg unloaded, the spec to re-map takes it up to a 118hp and should roughly give me 28.5mpg (this is what the data sheet i was shown said). So its costing; just over £350 (if you send the cpu away) i didn't so it was nearer the £450 mark which still makes it cheaper than any 115hp/125hp i found. The torque increase will be around 45. I will keep you posted as i get on with it and see what the real mpg turns out to be. I spent probably as much time on the transit forum as on here the last month or so:blushing:
  23. Yep your right,
  24. pause it at 6:10 looks like 1 crab:confused1: could be wrong.
