  3. havnt done it yet mate, busy trying to keep up with tree work,/logs/crafts etc,,will pop by and nick your logs when get a mo,,,,

  7. stubby,lol I made it to go on the counter top, defo just for looks,,,,it should say tuesday/wednesday etc,,,, I use a monster forstner bit,and its hard work to be honest, just wanted to point out what you can make with just a simple log that otherwise wouls have been firewood.
  8. decided after a lovely day yesterday at clivedon house (national trust) to finnish off a couple of half started projects,,heres the results. First a log of yew,showing the unfinnished half also, then a yew plank with 4 hand forged hooks,
  9. problem with keepin it oversize, especially oak(and now its getting warmer)is it will distorte a fair bit and you will find it hard to get a square side to lay flat to remill!
  10. reckon Ive seen a few of them trees, I nearly bought a house in richmond a couple of yrs ago, and get up to reeth often,,must hook up for a jar or two in the middle house!!or the buck?

  12. kev I did take some pics,but my computer seems to have gobbled em up somewhere, and the planks are now burried under some lovely new cedar that I planked,,,lol:thumbup:(theory being the cedar will keep the nasty bugs away)..natural control?
  13. so glad a wickedly nice bit of local walnut is getting used, all the smaller diameter stuff has been milled into planks for furniture too, this wind blown tree is certainly getting a new life:thumbup1:
  14. heres some highly valuable walnut going steves way,,,good catching up mate,looking forward to seeing the results,
  15. kev that walnut trunk yielded 12x 1.5 x8ft planks with some lovely colour,very little sap wood, its milled and drying, and has its origin marked on it, ,treated to protect it from mini beasts, and will be set to dry for 2yrs, then will grace somebody`s house in a bit of furniture, thanks for having the forthought not to log it:thumbup1: a truly highly valuable walnut log
