  1. That's fair enough but I never use spikes without my sj so having the line through the caritool would put a real awkward angle to slacken off the sj. Jake:thumbup1:
  2. Hey Adam,do you use spikes with the rw.tried once but did not get on atall.if not,how are you chugging down.cheers Jake
  3. Ggrrrrrrr! friggin technology Jake:thumbup1:
  4. Sorry:blushing:here's the other 2
  5. These were taken today but it still counts as we're in 2012:thumbup: The other was my first palm in Oz(dirty nasty things)
  6. Personally I think that costumers wouldn't care how untidy the bag of kindling was as long as it burnt. Jake:thumbup1:
  7. Never be intimidated by a good climber but use them as a tool too learn from.reccy climbs are a awesome way to go Jake:thumbup1:
  8. Also Dowie you can buy corner traps for maillons which are super cheap.i think their pence as opposed to pounds but could be wrong. This will hold themaillon into position on the harness ,this way the krab shouldn't 'clunk'as bad when you sit in the harness Jake:thumbup1:
  9. Also by getting the best kit,you are never going to find a difference in your climbing.i remember when I upgraded the my first harness, the difference was amazing.the comfort and movement(went from a fixed d to sliding d) was enough to put a spring in my step and the biggest key to improving your climbing technique and speed(not that it's the most important) is confidence and by having fun.climbing is sooooo much better with a smile on my face. Enjoy your time in the tree, don't get frustrated and chech double and triple check.never get a chip on your shoulder because someone more experienced is giving pointers all the time, they are just trying to help and not make life difficult. Jake:thumbup1:
  10. My high was moving to O.Z.was a fantastic year for me.an amazing start for a new company, but only been here for 3 months.BRING ON 2013:laugh1: Jake:thumbup1:
  11. Yeh,just read that.pretty cool book of tricks in there.cant think of many climbing tweaks that won't already be on here apart from a crab on my leg loops when spiking, just keeps the life line away from the spike and doesn't get tangled so easy. Jake:thumbup1:
  12. Key to big reductions is thinking you know your limits, then push beyond them.youll learn a lot by just not cutting where you think 'that'll do'.but by making an effort too get too where you need to,I think this always gives best results.alot is psychological I reckon.as you do more it will become a lot easier.just stick with it and don't give up. Jake:thumbup1:
  13. You know what im on board................teach them srt:biggrin: Only problem I can see is expensive kit for beginners. Old mill,to get back on topic, why do you ask Jake:thumbup1:
  14. Now that you've explained your right.its pretty much the same, just different style. Gutted I broke up for Christmas, want to go climb and try this out:biggrin: Jake:thumbup1:
  15. Now this I'm struggling with.......sorry guys:blushing:
  16. MUCH:biggrin: Cheers Adam.looks like I'm guna need to buy a lot more slings and crabs.i think this method will work wonders on the eucalypts over here. Jake:thumbup1:
  17. It's a friggin pita too get off ur clothes and hands though Jake:thumbup1:
  18. Agreed.sorry it was out of context.i didn't understand but now I think I'm clued in. You strop in then advance yeah? Jake:thumbup1:
  19. Sorry a lot was written in the short time I wrote the last post.... Please ignore Jake:thumbup1:
  20. Thanks for the info guys on the slings and going above the anchor point.now although I will not use this method(wink, wink, wink) Surely there must be a safety issue with going above your anchor on a base tie.say your above the tip, take a slip and fall towards your rope, means potentially your free falling toward the ground with no rope.or do you always tie in with a strop befor going above you anchor. Jake:thumbup1:
  21. Because of branch walks and other climbs which do not require you to go strait up into the canopy. I mean when you first started there is no way you were able to get out on branches like you do now.most beginners would put in a second anchor, which would probably be Ddrt.then it becomes confusing if you have 2 wrenches or if you have 2 different setup s. Jake:thumbup1:
  22. Sorry I know it's not to do with the thread but can you please talk me through advancing with strops and slings Ian. Jake:thumbup1:
  23. Apologies then, I thought you meant strength of anchors.then I will agree with you that it will take a beginner a lot longer too throw a tip than ourselves. Jake:thumbup1:
  24. I just think that the advantages too a beginner in Ddrt out ways srt. I think you can learn srt, defiantly.but I just think you should learn simple before technical,I mean how will a beginner work out what's double loads on an anchor and what doesn't? Jake:thumbup1:
  25. A cut oabove the hitch is trouble whatever system you use. Surely? Jake:thumbup1:
