  1. Have you considered a smoke cloak system Most other methods involve a secure lock type deterrent, a smoke cloak hides your gear from thieving for a period allowing you time to respond.
  2. Looks like its starting to get a bit drier where you are. Makes working so much easier.
  3. I,m not keen on top handled saws, so I use mine as my ultra light climbing saw. With the weight saving I can eat an extra pasty for lunch each day:001_smile:
  4. Oh yes they will, I,ll post a picture later when I,m in the office.
  5. I suppose you have to work out why you decided to form a ltd co and work together. Like others have said, partnerships are rife with conflict and problems and there has to be a very good reason to consider one if you were previously working well individually.
  6. Would decoy CCTV cameras in prominent locations be a deterrent. Although I gather to some this might be an incentive.
  7. You,ve got the right attitude. Start over and go again. Good luck:001_smile:

Apparently that was the late Patrick Moores favourite hobby second to star gazing - he had an entire collection of techniques to waste their time.
  9. I,d check with them first. I haven't found that to be the case but others may have had better luck.
  10. Nice one Quercus. Definitely the right attitude and good to see. Good luck and keep updating and letting us know how you're getting on.
  11. Agreed. And the side panels might come of and the coolant bottle might come off. There,s a manual on the Internet for a ditch witch mx15 might help although it won,t upload onto my iPad
  12. Could something or someone have prompted it? I,ve not heard of this before. Was there something in particular they were looking for or at. what questions did they ask?
  13. A CAt tool is easy to use. The big thing is how accurate or effective are they. They will help find charged cables below the surface - they will not find every service, plastic water or gas pipes street lighting when its not on. The basic ones won't tell you what depth the service is at either. You can induce a charge for detection into dead cables and metal pipes with a the addition of a "Gen" and what we find very useful for locating drains where we can get access from an adjacent manhole or gully is a "sonde" which is a little torpedo blob thingy you switch on and screw onto a sewer rod and then push and follow it from above ground with the CAT. They assist but do not give a definitive guarantee that there an area is service free - they help with cable avoidance
  14. Looks like a pimped Suzuki Carry or Bedford Rascal etc.
  15. I,d thin out the heaviest main stems as low as possible, about 1/3 of the total stems. Frost damage won,t be a problem in west cork, it,s almost tropical around this area. Windy yes, not cold by comparison to the uk, could even be frost free so far this year.
  16. Countrywide freight in Mallusk, Belfast might do it. They brought a chipper from the North east England and a micro digger from Kent for us last year. About £180 for each consignment. They might do the south as well.
  17. Could try Scottish woodlands. Their cloughmills office maybe
  18. Masons chippers, have a few on their site.
  19. I,d divide by 220 and not 250. Still roughly but a bit more realistic in terms of productive days and could mean the difference between making a loss or a profit on staff:001_smile:
  20. I think I know what you mean - there's an interesting cross over between the awards and ssc side of lantra - chinese walls and all that. I know other sectors have the schemes but they have been set up separately from the ssc involved. Not sure exactly - never paid enough attention - or possibly sleeping at that meeting. Interesting scheme, similar or almost identical in part to the CSR scheme in Construction over here. Takes a bit of setting up, a mandatory requirement to work on government projects certainly helped focus the big players on that scheme though.
  21. I wasn't aware that this type of scheme fell within the remit of a SCC.
