  1. We live near and look after the slipways and site where the Titanic was built and launched from.
  2. That's a cracking shed and it fits in perfectly with its surrounding. Do you have any pictures of the inside roof formation? Thanks
  3. That's the one. I spotted earlier in the week and by the time I,d got fuel in Sainsburys and gone back they'd turned the lights out for the night. Got it the next time though.
  4. Was driving by B&Q the other night - is it just me or are they using sex to sell DIY goods.
  5. Just checked the footfall figures. Last year 170 000 over three days, not a bad effort
  6. Just back from the Irish national ploughing association show in Southern Ireland. Probably the biggest show I,ve ever been to. A good forestry section, timber, woods and equipment including log holders. Husqy pole climbing etc. Might be worth a punt next year if you're looking for new markets. Literally thousands of people at it.
  7. You would definitely be aware of clipping more so at the start of the season when the cuttings take longer to desiccate. Although it does spread them well across the ground and evenly.
  8. We run a kubota 3680 with a 72" side discharge which is excellent. In big open areas on fortnightly cuts after a few cuts the grass volume is reduced and is well spread out the side shoot. The work rate is amazing on good ground. I know a lot of guys using John Deere also but never seen a 72" on any of them.
  9. Well deserved and excellent that its been recognised by the industry at all levels.
  10. I missed your post. I was in Tenby with zero connectivity. My big lad finished the ironman and my wee 7 year old twins finished the ironkids. We,re all very proud - it's a killer venue for an ironman.
  11. Its rated at 95-100hp. Most of our work is urban tree work she'll not see so much forest work only in December when we extract some 20-30ft christmas trees so I'll not bother with guards at the moment. The tractor is 2003 but the loader is 2007 and mint. It should lift around 1600kg+ with the right weights on the back. Took a bit of searching about but think we got the right one - time will tell.
  12. Definitely - what good would a poncey car be in the woods anyway. More pictures to follow when we get here back to our yard.
  13. I think you are right. From memory when we did our NEBOSH Cert they talked about a Contracted lift which was when the crane company gives you a cost to do a specific lift. Often something like lifting a beam onto roof or similar. I,m not sure if this would be classed as a Contract lift operation though.
  14. This ones on its way to us. Just a few buckets to be modified. Mid life crisis - it was either this or a Saab Convertible!
  15. Don't forget to check your Hired-In plant insurance policy. Often the wording on the crane docket means you are fully responsible for their machine when it on site even with their driver. So if you drop a big one and the crane topples over its on your policy. Just a thought if you're just starting to get into crane hire.
  16. When are you going to update that website of yours with the new van and staff profiles:001_smile:
  17. Nice Valmet - are you getting any extras - mud flaps, floor mats, roof crane, front mounted winch, forestry guarding?
  18. Spot on I,m still considering a log boiler beside our oil boiler so I can alternate between the two as time, timber, convenience dictates.
  19. What about this one AC Price Engineering - Ifor HIAB026-3
  20. Wow, that's very impressive. A good ton in those pallets? useful even as a site crane.
