  1. I really like it and burn a fair bit at home myself on open fire. Ive been burning some 3 yr seasoned stuff and doesnt spit at all, gives off loads of heat and catchs easily. Thats all I want really.
  2. Never had anything to do with a posch tbh. Ill have a read up and see

  9. Thats exactly what im doing. Stive mix will include a bit of everything. Lovely ol job!
  10. So have I....essex/suffolk boarder...but I werent allowed a post like this one in firewood forum. ...
  11. Thats my thinking atm to be honest
  12. No doubt it will steve, I wasnt moaning about it being slow at all...im happy with how its going this year.
  13. Does he load them there and then dan or deliver for his customers?
  14. Sort of going along the lines of Hodge saying society is becoming to anal about logs, without fail the first question new customers ask on the phone is how much is a load. Maybe im reading to much into it, but its never what size loads do you do...what wood is it...what is the moisture content...where does it come from... 3 firewood adverts in village shop this week, just a photo on each and price. No load size, wood types etc. You get what im saying, as an industry do we sit back and accept this or fight and really try and educate and in the process possible add value to our product?
  15. John im on eggs doorstep, message me with more details of this wood please
  16. Ive completely over hauled pricing structure this year, based around making more profit from a hard game but still offering the customer sensible prices. Yes its a bit of hassle explaining new prices and different loads offered but I feel I needed to offer a more complete service to make more money and ultimately have a more sustainable business. Time will tell but I have nearly removed all risk from the business and if I have timber still in the yard in 3 yrs time ill just sell the lot whole sale.
  17. Simonm dont worry about what logs you have atm, assess the situation end of april (end of the season). I can almost guarantee you will have sold most of it, if not dont try and fight a saturated market. What about selling them whole sale if you need the cash tied up in the logs? Plenty of other firewoog guys could sell your 1.2 cube crate for £140+, product sold for you and easy profit for the other guy. Stick 30 crates on a lorry and bet you could sell the lot tomoro for 60 quid per 1.2 cube. Try and not get sucked into "I cant price myself out of the market" thinking. What others charge shouldnt really affect you. Work backwards, how much you want to make? Deduct accurate and honest costs and what you left with? Others selling price shouldn't influence that figure. Best of luck
  18. I have been burning willow and pine for couple of weeks now and love the mix, once i have a lovely glowing bed on goes a bit of elm. lovely
  19. I seriously looked at them boxes at cereals and they do look the nuts. They were 55 each back in the summer, but came to conclusion id need 100 at least to make the switch to boxes stack up and couldnt justify £5500 on boxes and a further 1500 on a decent rotator. Decent 2nd hand potato boxes are 10-20 quid round here.
  20. No doubt it sounds a good conference, but price is going to really take some justifying...and location?!
  21. Yeh I just went to the farm, stuck some rope bangers out...got quite a sweat on walking rhe osr. Now hammering it down! Footy and a fire this after I think
  22. I did 4 loads (6 cube) yesterday Egg, tee shirt and shorts weather!
