1. £30hr and minimum of 4hrs if close by, minimum of 8hrs if bit further.
2. scots pine is one that i have access too. be interested in hear if its any good or not
3. I have never dabbled in selling SW but am more then likely going to start offering it. I have heard Larch is a good start, would be keen to know more from sellers experiences what sells well and what doesnt etc.
4. Hi Gaz, imo yes way to cheep mate. If you are buying in timber and using expensive kit, processor etc, then i cant see how and why you would sell so cheap. I am double your price (£100 1.2cube) and at your price I wouldnt make any profit. This isnt a dig mate, just answering your question. Cheers
5. Same as the log-loc, more or less. And that guy has sold hundreds!
6. What sort of intentions have you got to promote the firewood directory? I believe it has real potential, dont think there is anything else like it?!
7. I have this exact issue, phone went mad this sept with firewood orders. And I had to keep putting people off till cultivating and drilling was more or less done. Luckily we had a mild sept and nobody minded, but it cause me a lot of stress and worry juggling it all from a tractor cab!
8. Cheers chaps, you have cheered me right up....ha ha!! Well hopefully nothing more will come of it, she only wanted last 2 months of records to see and got that. She had last 3 tax returns with her, and they were fine and dandy apparently. I dont try and do this myself, I use an agricultural, qualified book keeper and accountant. Others I have spoke to who have had small business records check visit have said it went fine and that was that. Heres hoping.
9. Stevie, I will sit down tomorrow evening and renew my listing, for a showcase. Thanks.
10. Had a business record check today, went well. The lady was very pleased and satisfied all records etc were kept correctly. I had nothing to hide, but was pretty nervous seeing that now firewood orders are roaring out of the door im handling a fair bit of cash sales. We discussed the 3 elements of my business (farming, contracting and firewood) equally. I thought she would concentrate on the firewood due to the nature of alot more sales then say grain sales etc. It did surprise me though the lack of knowledge she had on firewood and how its sold. I sell per volume and always issue VAT receipt etc, she just presumed it would be per truck or ton load and always cash sales!! She left very happy about being educated about farming and firewood. I got a lot out of the meeting, apparently a lot more small businesses will be having them over the next 12 months. Keep records guys, ESPECIALLY the cash sales!
11. how does the grab work mate? is it a tractor mounted one?
12. Edd I have replied to your message, you may be a bit far away for it to be viable for me but am happy to give you a quote. Thanks All the best
13.
Quite possibly yeah, can you give me a postcode please too see if the distance is viable or not.

14. well these are rough figures again but gives you an idea... cost them roughly £200 for my 5hrs. say i did 25 loads for them, thats £8 to process a load. or if it was 20 loads thats £10 a load. Pretty good value if you ask me!
15. yeh with the tajfun i bought. that is just a guess really and im just going by what the 2 guys estimated they had. they think we did 15t roughly of mostly real big stuff that would only just get in the machine. he said his trailer holds roulghy 600kgs so 15t would be 25 loads. must stress these are his predictions not mine!! i was more or less using the whole 17" bar most of the time and had the 8 way knife in the whole time too.
16. i will be charging £40ph for me, machine and tractor once i get up to speed. still getting use to the machien as yet so a touch under that atm.
17. my log deck folds up and attaches to the back of the processor for transport, so yes you can travel with one! my friend was loading with his forklift. hard to say how much we did as it all went it a big pile in the shed, but my friend estimate it was around 25-30 of his trailer loads which is 1.4cube a time. That was in 5hrs.
18. thats quite literally on your doorstep Jay!
19. I am always open to new ideas and would be interested in seeing this in more detail, although im not up to the 750t per year yet but its what im aiming at.
20. Yes i agree!! I think my friends who i was processing for were really eyeing up the machine for a possible future purchase...like you said.
21. the last forecast i saw for today was 1.30am this morning. it said it was to rain all day long from 6am. i started raining here at 6.30pm!! haha idiots
22. Had first day out with my new processor contracting for a friend today. Went well and they were pretty happy with output of the machine and the amount we did in pretty crap weather conditions. Do others on here do contract processing? I am hoping to pick up quite a bit more to help warrent the machine. Do you send the machine out with an operator? I only intend on going out with my machine, a few reasons but mainly being it takes a good few days to get use to the machine and I will look after it better then anyone! Helped a lot today that the 2 guys who's wood it was was helping and being organised. And had a decent loader to load processor
23. Have you done this in the past Simon? I really dont feel comfortable changing the price with the weather!
