  1. that splitter was a monster! never seen one like it!
  2. yeah but that did include the hydrolic log deck, to be fair, both machines were very clean. i dont know what the processor retails at, trying to find a price on line but having no luck!!
  3. Anyone on here get any thing good today then? Some things were going for crazy money! I was interested in the processor, but at £12,800 way over my budget for a 6yr old machine!
  4. Perfectly straight stuff or will it take the odd bit of twisted stuff? whats it like splitting 14" 4 and 6 ways?
  5. ALright then Nick, I can only just justify a processor now I think mate so cant justify spending too much, what sort of money you talking about mate?
  6. What sort of timber sizes you putting through Hodge?
  7. Would you mind giving me more details of the issues you've had?
  8. I am hoping to get a demo lined up over next couple of weeks of the 1x37, but would very much appreciate first hand users opinions on the machine. I have read many threads on the net about the machine, but no recent threads. Thanks
  9. I have just had 3 Oxford Sand and Blacks slaughtered, we rear them in an old release pen in one of our woods. 2 strands of electric wire keeps them in well. I would suggest this breed over Tams, Tams can get quite fat if your not careful. OSBs easier to finish imo. Dont expect to get much meat off one pig, but it will be the best meat ever. You want to take them to about 60kgs which will provide 40-45kgs of meat after butchery. Tell the butcher exactly how YOU want the animal cut up, he will probably be very helpful but will do it his way if you dont say what you want! Get the trotters and ears back from the butcher, feed to the dogs they love them! Get your feed if possible from an animal feed mill, commercial feed places like CWG and Mole Valley are bloody expensive! I feed my pigs loads of carrots and parsnips, you can get cheap bags of both from horsey places. Also pigs love apples, pick up as many as you can and save for the pigs. Make sure the weaners have been registered and had the correct jabs, they shouldnt need anymore vet med if they have had the right stuff before you. Make sure you have a holding number, easy to get off DEFRA webisite, and most of all have fun!
  10. i try and pay things off pretty quickly if i can, just so if things dont work out i have some capital available if i need to sell. Looking forward to having a play with a few machines, probably will have to sell my hedge trimmer first, but hey ho.
  11. Doesn't every industry and busniess up and down the country suffer from busy fools? Surely its been going on from beginning of time, its business. And we are are a bad economic state, so what do people expect? Just charge what you are happy with and forget about others, agricultural contracting (my game) is horrendous for busy fools, guys going out with 45k of tractor and hedge cutter for £20 a hour just to be doing something. But absolutely no point in worrying about these types, do a good efficient job at sensible price and you WILL get repeat custom
  12. Thanks for the input chaps, im going to see about get a few demo's lined up I think. Definately interested in the E37. Like most things I buy, price is going to be big factor in final decision!
  13. I have had 5 new customers this week, all from the other local firewood guy who has run out apparently. Happy days! Now up to me to supply first class seasoned wood and not to let them go back to him next year
  14. So you would suggest the 1x37 then Steve? It looks like a very suitable machine for my needs. What would be the equivalent machine from other brands?
  15. This place I cant recommend enough, absolutely fantastic. they have their own eco brewery on site and bore hole, wind turbine etc. Great ale and food. I presume you are set for staying at Willowmere, but might be worth trip out to Edwardstone, its not far at all.
  16. Your processor looks smart mate, what sort of money we talking new?
  17. Well its a mixture of bought in timber, all processor friendly and timber we save from coppicing operations on various farms. I'd like to think next winter I may be doing 350-400 cube, so just an entry level processor really. I'm looking at a bobcat with timber grab to handle timber with.
  18. Thanks Charlie, the video on the website is very impressive. What sort of money are we talking?
  19. Think I'm going to bite the bullet and get myself a processor. I havent bought any firewood/forestry equipment new before so looking for suggestions for places I should be ringing around. Many thanks
  20. have they got hydrolic piping to power things on the front, muck grab log splitter etc?
  21. is it any good for say pushing up brush from hedgerow coppicing etc? i would need it to be as versitile as possible
  22. I dont process much Poplar, but the few ton i have done its worth stripping all the bark when splitting. Drys so much quicker.
