  1. The second photo shows a fairly big area, this is in the middle of a 5 acre wood and 4 rides go off from this. Also have got a wedding in this wood in 2 weeks, providing weather behaves should be lovely location.
  2. Had a cracking couple of days last week trimming back a few rides and other margins/HLS corners around the farm. Woods really look smart just after being trimmed.
  3. GIve Kevin Head at Great Waldingfield Garage a bell, he does all my truck spannering and is a good guy.
  4. Our Leyland has been bomb proof, has never needed for anything as yet
  5. Shouldn't this be in the Firewood Directory?
  6. I'm not sure what ours have done this week, will have a look tomorrow and report back... p.s photo taken when they first went up, end of Feb time...
  7. Jon, if the container hasnt got a lockbox then weld one on asap and stick a padlock in that. much harder to cut a padlock inside a lockbox.
  8. Thats a very sensible price in my opinion, i'd snap his hand off if i was you. You can put the cost against tax etc. I have a yard of my own and wouldnt let it a similar area out any less.
  9. IMO i would never hesitate insuring my dog. I have had my spaniel for 4yrs, his insurance is £8 a month. Bugger all considering. I have had to use it once for a £600 bill. So in theory I am over £200 up.... I think when you run your own business, things like pet insure just make sense. Cash flow is very tight right now and I would struggle to cover a bill like that again without insurance, and I dont ever want to be in that position!
  10. tesco pet insurance. made one claim last year, super straight forward. vets and tesco did everything.
  11. Thanks for the recent interest. TBH I have put this on the back burner for the time being, I had a really apologetic email back from the editor who took responsibility for over looking the column and not proof reading it being publishing. I will be pursuing more advertising come the Autumn and will remind the editor of his reply closer to the time. I have been too busy to worry about the chap who wrote it and I havent had any contact with him, several of my customers have contacted me who saw the article and offered support and gave their opinions of the chap who wrote it. The chap I work with writes a monthly bit in the magazine and he has offered me the column for an Autumn edition on buying Firewood tips etc. Really looking forward to writing it. I think once the dust settled I realised having one plank complain from well over 200 individual customers I have had over past 3 yrs isnt to much to worry about. Going to up my game even more this coming season so he see's my truck roaring around even more often with a cracking load of logs on the back of it! All the best chaps
  12. how do you get on with that processor mate? I looked at them at LAMMA show earlier in the yr and was very impressed
  13. PErsonally i like the Honda. we use to use old yamaha DT's on the farm, our agronomist still uses old trial bikes to get around the farm. if you want something real fun, KTM have just bought out the 350 free ride.....
  14. seems to be quite a bit around at the moment around my way. last lot of cord i had in was £45 but i have since secured another 50t of seasoned cord at £40t delivered. i'd do some shopping around if i was you
  15. I am thinking that it would help with my business and help me secure more work with farmers in the future. Its a new course and I dont know anyone else that has done it yet, so could help me stand out from the crowd in that respect. BASIS courses are very well regarded in Agriculture. I am getting more and more work regarding agri-environmental schemes and thought this course would help me communicate better with farmers and help with there applications etc.
  16. i might be interested in that, im at Clare (suffolk essex boarder) where is the wood?
  17. Yeah I'm with Dan, i have a browns as well. Simple, strong, easy to use etc etc etc
  18. couldnt agree more, i have used some new sugar beet chemicals this spring that need to be agitated and kept agitated all the time. no stopping for a brew! price of chemicals this spring is killing me. the t3 im spraying has got 5 different chemicals in it, including Proline!
  19. Has anyone done this course and passed, or anyone with any experience of it? I am probably going to do it myself pretty soon but would be interested in others views, thanks
  20. glyphosate is so cheap i would just stick another drop of the neat stuff in and spray that, dont bother using the old stuff. it becomes less effective after a matter of hours let alone months!
  21. i like that idea, i make up quite a few candles and it always fcuks my chain right up! gonna try that tip, cheers
  22. Anyone else offer this service? I have been busier then ever this year doing horsey paddocks, parkland and meadows. Think the wet then warm spring has really help weed growth. What mixes are you using for grassland? Have started using Pastor this year, expensive but seems to be working really well when mixed with a little MCPA and 2-4d.
  23. Thats the sort of idea I have for a job I have lined up next winter. I have agreed an hourly rate for 2 cutters to tidy up 3 small woodlands, and will probably hire a small digger with grab to move timber out with using a small timber trailer. By having digger on site, will hopefully get some ditches to clean out as well.
  24. 2 nice newer shape club cab l200s on ebay at the moment, sensible price as well
  25. ~Just done it Steve, I have had several orders through facebook now so worth spend bit of time on it. Appreciate people liking my facebook page, thanks
