  1. I am tempted yes. the advert doesnt mention VAT.... My prices are double, so yes would be easy to make a few £££
  2. i got pulled over few weeks back, the old bill was worried i had a heaped up load of CONCRETE in the pick up and nothing stop it falling out onto the a14....i politely pointed out the load was ash logs not concrete, oh not to worry then he said and off i went! turns out ash logs are made of foam..
  3. Im not worried Jon! Quite happy how things are progressing all the best
  4. no but he is paying some it i know that much!
  5. simon i have pm'd you my friend
  6. yep, last yr one of the better known guys sold out and I picked up quite a few of his customers and they have stayed with me worst thing you can do is sell out imo.
  7. Just seen an advert from another local firewood guy, summer special £175 for 3.5 cube seasoned. Think I will either offer to buy the whole lot off of him or wait till he has sold out and all his customers head my direction (hopefully). Makes my summer special price look...not to special!
  8. yep, the tajfun is 540 spline but run on 1000pto just over tick over. lovely old job! i run my splitter off the front linkage. 157hp just plays with it!
  9. I know you can make half decent money out of firewood, just got to be efficient and watch out for handling logs a number of times. dont try and compete with the cheapest guys, try and supply the best logs around and charge a premium for it, thats what i do and repeat trade and word of mouth keeps me very busy. Farming is my main game, and firewood is a successful diversification for me. Works well for me.
  10. this is the link to my machine, quick video i took when it was on demo at mine [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpG5fGP_LdA]Tajfun 400 Joy Firewood Processor - YouTube[/ame]
  11. ok thanks for that, do you mind saying where you stopped and how long etc. was thinking of having 2 nights hotel in Christchurch when we get to NZ and the rest in a hired camper for as long as we can in that time scale!
  12. are stop overs a possibility on a budget? i had sort of ruled them out....got 4 weeks for the whole trip, originally thought stop over hong kong there and SAn Fran on the way back...any advice would be great
  13. Planning a trip to NZ this AUtumn and need to book some flights asap really. Just wondering if anyone has any advice who to fly with etc, what route to take, stop overs etc. Going to be flying into Christchurch. Air New Zealnd seems good so far. Unfortunately we are doing this on a fairly tight budget!!
  14. I have sold 3 of my large trailer (1.8cube) loads this week. handy extra bit of wonga I wasnt expecting to see this week
  15. I dont think they have been in the uk that long but are taking the market by storm. they have sold 40 odd since last Oct so i was told. Much better build then the HP or Japa. Joy stick control is superb and priced sensibly imo.
  16. Kilworth machinery, very good service. Andy bought out one for me to try and i decided to buy it that day. was very impressed.
  17. that would drive me mad, the tajfun has 2 flaps the cut log sits on before falling into the splitting chamber, these 2 flaps almost eliminate logs falling side ways.
  18. the bar is either 16 or 18", cant remember rght now. but the opening of the intake is the deciding factor. and that is a good 18". the 8 way knife is great on big stuff
  19. I looked at HP processors, then had a Tajfun on demo and never looked back. What a machine! HP was right down on my list TBH
  20. its got a wide intake so as long as the guy loading is doing his job bendy bits not really a problem so far
  21. First day with the Tajfun working today, took a little while toget going...had to adjust a sensor that was playing up, but after that went a treat. Dad and bro very impressed with the machine
  22. Yeah the machine and log lift attached is pretty heavy. I will try it with my old leyland soon and get back to you Dan. My 6480 doesnt know she has picked it up haha!
  23. If you want any done, just let me know. I could come do a day processing for you so you can have a good look at the machine.
