  1. Wrong area I meant to post in chainsaw forum:blushing: Thanks for the reply.
  2. In a tree today & managed to puncture the oil tank on my 201t. Dose anyone know the best fix solution for this please? I have cleaned it out & was wondering if liquid glue is my best bet? Any info much appreciated.
  3. I put my pantin on before my spikes & seat it on the back side of the gaff. Don't find any probs with comfort/twisting. Just a little paranoid after losing a pantin in a river whilst an a take down of multi stemmed ivy clad crack willow & had it on the outside of the shank.
  4. cheers old mill. will check out the vid on the vid you posted for more info. Jo's vid on this forum is very informative & has sold me the idea of getting a snake anchor. I like the idea of re enforced/backed up anchor point installments on a 4kn (if needed) shock load system when climbing on less than desirable anchor points. Sort of a fisherman's rod effect if I have the right thought in my head..Along with the multiple other uses for it.
  5. sounds like me edd should set up a separate thread of domino fells & an attempt for a world record should be taken (if their is such a thing?!) Liked the back leaner..
  6. Cheers Ewan. Looks like the snake anchor has alot of uses so may go for one anyway.
  7. Watched the ART snake anchor vid & got to thinking, as a tip would a kong or other make daisy chain work in the same way? Especially with some of these static lines some of you ascend on. If not dose anyone install a type of load impact minimizing addition to their base tie or tip working tie off points, or is it a waste of time ect?
  8. Any advantage to getting the carbon fiber ones? Just wondering..
  9. Great idea for a thread Adam. Lots of questions out their & lots of answers too. Looks like a good start too..
  10. I use my tachyon as an access line srt wr & work off of it srt as I prefer it's elongation in comparison to my other working line (not pi). Elongation wise I think both are roughly the same but I went for tachyon as I thought orange is a better color than green both in the tree & tailing on the ground.
  11. A couple of pic's that I said I would post. sorry said I would post few days ago, anywho hear they are. Quality of pics is pap as I have a pants fone. Shrink wrap would be good to finish off on it at some point too..
  12. Some type of petzl crab strop, whipping twine, some stiff plastic stuff & electrical tape. Will try & post a pic tomorrow but it is a bit of a dr frank's monster thing.
  13. Hey Stuart, I use it on 1st access & keeping in the tree as a rescue line if working ddrt on the O rig or lj. 2nd for quick up down d woods, rd side lifts, hailo pruning or tip backs from buildings. Thats if I get my throw line in to around where I want ish within first few throws (no need to isolate which is a BIG plus for me!) 3rd those up down trees (multiple spars) re-direct heaven. 4th the pants anchor point trees where I use a sort of fishing rod tie in type set up as I would in some rig down tec's except I pre load my final point to create a static point & do the same with re-directs off of it. It is not my primary source of climbing tec's, but I am finding more use for it & enjoying the learning of applications & limitations at the mo. Still on the zk1 with a small stffy, prob 4/5 inch with a knut & hc, which works well for me due to little sit back & good engagement of the wr in assent. It is a welcome bit of kit that I use as & when I need to. I can see the day when it clicks for more jobs than I find at the mo. Well worth spending your hard earnt imo even if it's for the srt assent/descent option.
  14. I use this knot. I like it over the vt as I find less sit back.
  15. Nice work & vid. Cheers for posting:thumbup1:
  16. Had something much the like a few weeks back. Did a spore print & they were brown. Pholiota squarrosa was my conclusion. Insistently on one of the trees in the area I found the fungi on I also found boot lace's in the bark so but no sign of Armillaria fruiting body's.
  17. Not sure if this counts as a glitch, but thought I would bring it to your attention. GlobalVisitorsSurveynNetwork Pain in the backside pop up that wants info on a regular basis.
  18. Interesting vid's. I take it that the vt is used as the friction knot as it is the most commonly used for wr srt? Also the cost of kit used that is promptly put on the shelf for sh*#'s & giggles. Are their any plans for other knot configs ect?
  19. Every day is a learning day. This fella's, books & youtube posts are great to gain knowledge from. Same as these pages if you take the time to look. As for T/R I am still looking, reading & asking along with other things that will take time & effort to learn about. May be a slow proses but it's all about the want to look & learn imo. Cheers for the post Sean.
  20. My tether from the wr to hc is aprox 3''. having read that most are 6'' is their a reason for this? The only prob I find is that the wr & hitch sometimes are hard to separate when so close. My thoughts are however on the track of is their an optimum angle at which the wr when engaged performs better/safer?

    201t vibes

Bag of nails!!! Only my opinion.
  22. Do all Armellaria spp have a white spore print? Saw what looked like Armellaria at first glance but had my reservations as to ident. Second thought was Pholiota spp. Clusters around Cherry stumps & trunks. No collar on the stem also.
  23. At least two weeks notice for me. Beech is no prob's as far as I'm aware but as it can be spread by the wind, ash in the area may be at risk if their are any in the forest. I don't know enough about it to comment on how long it lasts in transit from one place to another ect. Yea I may decontaminate my self too but sure the trees won't be to bothered by anything they may catch from me:vroam:
