  1. The only thing I know about RBC is that on an interveiw I attended to become Senior Arb for them, is that the tree officer in the area could not be presant at the interveiw coz of I'm not sure what! but I was inteveiwed by an aray of people, 'apart from the bloke who held the post I was going for 9 yr ago'! who didn't seem to have much of a clue in what trees are & do in the urban enviro, let alone the care about them or know what the job they were interveiwing me for! I'm not sure of the doc you refer to but I shall look in more deatail as to what is is on about. I was offered the job incedently but had to turn it down due to....well..must have taken me for a proper mug or something if no one else wanted it too! Seems like crimes against the dryads; What dose anyone make of this little ditty?
  2. Sensable for most domestic trees I think as the norm branch structure after 25ft is quite ladder like I have found. Can speed things up on multipal tree jobs in close prox.
  3. Most people I sub for have em as standerd out kit list. Used as an when needed. Every tree is different & all aproches should be concidered. Anything to make life easy as pos
  4. Nice vid n dismantle. Where can I read the full review of yours? I bought a POV & have found the angle needs to be wider!! The angle on your cam looks good & it picks up sound well too. Any tips on the film taking? My pov always seems to come out as if Im shaking my head to some tune I like:001_smile:
  5. Direct sunlight! where you find that stuff:001_tongue:
  6. I know of someone in bucks who is looking. Is it east or west reading? I have worked with him & rate him for his lowering skills.
  7. Hey Marc,

I trust your xmas was good? In far off lands I guess. sub 10 that way! what are we like ;)

Happy new yr to you & your wife & best of health & luck to you for 2010 :) Will look fwd to wrk with you again this yr at some point & pick up some new methods from you. Not SRT yet but when I have more £ I will invest in more gear. Take care out their m8..

  8. Got told by Carolin that it is Blase in green? sure the spec looked diferent on some site i found. Will be after some soon as I dont like the Trachion I use at mo.
  9. Had it for a few years now, some days better than others. I found that changing my climbing tec helped but slows things down some what at times! Wearing a suprort made for this injury is an esensial part of my climbing kit now. I try not to use pain killers most of the time but when I do I go for the ones with ibuprofin in as I have heard that this can reduce any swelling in the area which contributes to more pain. Try to take it easyer when possable in the speed of getting the job done as a slower better tecnique in any movement has to be a good thing in the long tearm. Wish you a speedy recovery & year without as much pain.
  10. Hey Marc,

Hows tricks? Let Hugo know I back in action so mite wrk with you again next yr at some time if he got things for me.

Bit weak in the wrist when using saw one handed ;) after the cut!

Hope you well & keeping out of trouble ;)

  11. The human condition of not being able to see into the future is a scary one for sure. The trick i think is to deal with what you have now, & deal with the actions you impose on the things you have control over at the time you can maybe influance even in a small way. I do think that our changing climate is a prosses that has gone on & will still do so for many more cycles in the earths life. However I also think our actions of climate manipulatinon with our activatys on her are speeding up a prosses that may have taken a longer time to play out for what ever resson the planet needs to change for time to time (maybe a bit like taking a bath for us). We may not be able to comprehend this but we can clean up our act & behave in a more symbiotic manor at the very least! The system most of us live in is based on the gaining of the £ & yes we are going to be taxed to the max under the guise of 'saving the planet'! I have no prob with bing ****** over even more than I am already under the current system as the changes brought about may make alot of people apriciate what we have. They would only find another way of doing it if it wasn't this one. I'm sure most people on this site care about their enviroment & will be inovating new planting stratergys & management tecs befor the so called enviroment(pollatitions) experts have spoon fed us the best way to do it! As long as I can go to sleep most nights with the knolage that how I have done or thought about better ways to co exist on this living thing we live on then I am ok with it. Now exuse me while I go & puke
  12. fell the tree first! i always find them far easyer to climb that way..no one will ever know i had been their..
  13. Anyone else get probs using the Lj on wet rope? i go back to a knut with hitch climber when my rope soked.
  14. can any one help me with this one? saw it last week on a beech. Inonotus obliquus?
  15. i have seen some spectacular cuts in this section & read some v interesting coments. has anyone heard of the friction & heat action of using a chain saw on these cuts as detrementle to some habitat/growth impeadment due to efectivly quaterizing/steralising the cut zones? i do some wrk on veteran trees & pollards & would like to find other opinions on this subject as i am increasingly asked to just back cuts if not puting myself in danger to produce rips/barber chair style wounds to premote a more natural veterinising/habitat creation. i would like to experement with partialy cutting a section of branch or stem then aplying force through a mec rope winch tec(fiddle block for an eg) to finish off the break as i feel this would not have the power to interfear with root stabilaty befor breakage occers. any thoughts on this?

  17. my only expiriance in self tend has been on a loose knot that i have had to re-dress any time i have wanted it to take my weight with any confidance. 'just my findings' it dosn't take long just a bit of thought 'every' time i sit back after an assent of few m. i think i may be doing alot of wrong things & would also like to learn how to acheve a method that dosn't take masses of try/fail cycles..
  18. ditto that. other wise a good lid. luv the visor:001_smile:
  19. be aware on these things! the paint can reach a high melt point along with a lowering line & cause a fusion of rope to bollard 'even' under a heavy load! it just comes to a stop mid line! i had read about it but not thought possable till i tryed to make it '& did' happen. not had a prob with the porta wrap system with regards of line jump if tention is aplyed to the line befor a load is applied. i have had an outer sheath of an 16mm lower line stripped on a new porta wrap prob due to weald splater & the fine gap in the part welded onto short end of wrap catching the line under load. make sure all gaps are filled & areas are smooth, ropes under load will pick up on any diffect! cycles to falure & all that jazz..
  20. Near winter but i still love this season the best:001_smile:
  21. Try use a knut with your hitch climber. I have found the same with the v.t, prob down to wraps, friction line dia & construction to be fair. I use a L.J alot with the a.r.t friction saver witch i like lots exept on wet days as it is a real basterd to get any continuatiy on friction with it on wet rope 'on or off decent!' these times i move back to the knut & h.c. most of all give all options a fair go if you can get your hands on em. everyone climbs different.
  22. :blushing:use of my o2o with left hand while holding branch with right! NO!!!
  23. amaizin green man calving! yours? high to all n best of health n luck
  24. leg loops look as if weight displacement mite become a pain at some point with the squ. i use the t.m & have had the cheek tweak from the bands on the back, ouch! but 'no pun intended' that my only prob with it so far. would like to give the squ a go though for a week though coz i to am coming to end of belt life on current one
  25. came in waves but in a woodland so not to bad
