  1. Best set up mog wise that I have come across in my movements has been a 1200 with hi-ab, 10 ton winch, front mounted chipper & a large high side grain traler. It seems to be a rig that can suit any situation from large domestic to clearance.
  2. Spent last week working on some veterans in burnham beeches. Some truly amazing testements to the power of nature & the battle for life that moves in a time frame we can't fully apriciate. Lessons indeed to slow down a bit from time to time & take it in..Fantastic pictures.
  3. Hey Nod, hope things well? Got any good things going on?

  4. Imo I have found Blaze to have perfofmed well in comparison to any other ropes that I have used. This may come down to many factors but one I think contrbutes alot to this is the tight braid make up, thus keeping dirt out to a min & alowing some free claening line?! Speculation as always..I will be trying p ivy soon with the move back to knots at this time of yr to as the lj is **** in the wet as far as I am conserned!!
  5. Reduction in weight from the lean direction to say the least! This mite have carryed on for many yrs if the client had so wished! Who says £ don't grow on trees! let alone our very existance..Was their a fungi presant that is not shown?
  6. Very nice doc of a big old tree take down. A fine bit of wrk doc. Look fwrd to see more well ed stuff. Oh yea, what prog you use for ed btw?
  7. Lots of set ups do employ this tec where I am at the mo (SE uk) they also like to do anything else the client asks for too!! Don't lose sleep just belive in a type of karma
  8. , and am expecting better longevity than my Haix (see Rich's 2 year guarantee thread). 8 months & now wet feet! I won't be buying another set for the price tag! The ones David has look as if they will stand some wear though, may try some of these as earlyer post said about spike fits better!
  9. If you have started wrk with a big crew get to know them by asking to use their equip if they are sound they will let you try stuff. If you getting your own stuff together to freelance then the set up you mention sounds like a good lot imo.
  10. It's all about playing with your knut's to get a good result! (grone! sorry had to say it!)
  11. What anoyed me more about this production was the fact that it was posted by the arb assosiation to contracters to watch it, but no tips as far as I remember to jo public in how to weed out cowboys through a self publicaty anouncment for example! People wont know what to look for if not educated a bit. Its not as if the AA don,t get enough £ out of contractors to keep their tag!
  12. Chris Reire, he had a singing pearch thing in his bog that near made me empty befor the pan!!
  13. Run costs of co are a thorn that is for sure! best of luck n health to you n yours:001_smile:
  14. I prefer people to earn knollage that is free from me & free from them, than charge the ass out of them in £. I am have a tribe of us to feed that I am aware of all the time & that what I earn day to day is what we get by on. My love for trees is enough for me to sacrifice some comforts that could otherwise be afforded from a £ driven heart. My family understand & love the power of nature & all that is provided if people take the time to see! The wealth of knowlage is something to be shared!
  15. I just picked up some freelance work today which will help fill in some gaps in the jan/feb slow time. 250 a day, and he's got a bargain! Thats without rigging gear! thats the sort of £ I should charge! I'm not gap filling that is my basic rate jan n feb tend to be ok for me. would love to go out @ that rate but my skills are only worth £150 as far as as I can make out. Power to your gap filling. What do comand the rest of the time? I need to sell myself better. Prob help if I could spell though:001_rolleyes:
  16. Lol I think that mite have prevented some interventions with our brave fire fighters who had been informed of a van on fire on the side of the rd on cold winter eves! only to descover a warm me letting our heat out in order to show them that we are safe with our wood burn stove warming us up! Glad of the consern though! without a question..

I hope this is the right no! Not ce marked for UK use but popular in the US I am told. I know some people over hear who own them & love em! Dose anyone have expiriance of these & why are they not fit for use in the UK!? Lighter than the ms200 & cut just as well on most pruning opps, prob due to bar & chain size.
  18. If you don't mind me asking, what sort of day rate do people charge with a rigging kit or what day rate are people happy to pay? £150 in the SE of uk I have found. That includes all tickets include a first aid, dr licance that enables 7.5 ton & tow (pre 97 is it?) climb kit, 200 saw, (rigging gear if required) & sweat.
  19. Now if comapanies have rigging kits and tickets and they want an additional kit for extra jobs, or if freelancers prefer to use there own then thats fine, but rigging for companies that can't do it in house is bad form IMO. I rig for some smaller co's that have the will to learn but just stuck in the dark ages with regards to modern lowering tec. I feel as part of bing a subi & getting about & seeing different tec's in wrk methods in different co's is important & sharing anything I pick up on the way that will make life safer & more efficiant for everyone is a must. Co's that can't do it in house & are willing to learn are worth working for imo, its those that don't want to learn that are more of a concern to me!
  20. Yea I supply a basic 14 bull rope & asosiated rig blocks, porta wrap 'modified'! Not needed most of the time as most co I wrk for have their own gear that they know how to use. Back up for the co's that don't have is good though! Keep it symple though..If you wrk for a co that don't know basic rig kit & u asked to do a comp rig out then be aware that the ground crew prob don't have a clue! This is when having your own kit & knolage in how to best use it comes into it's own..
  21. Time & place for em! anything that can make my life easyer must be a good thing. Won't leave home without a line a 9oz bag & cube though!
  22. Are you back in the area again? I will give H a ding soon to see if he got things for me to do again. May catch up late march/april some time. Hope you got your tree spirits back again from your break..I need to get my tree fitness back after my cut n not alot of climb!

  23. Look in books. Feel the trees. find your feet then enjoy the rides! Keep a passion for the tree & build on that! No need for law as long as you know what is right is right. I think you prob do as you wouldn't have posted if you didn't! If the tree police catch up with you then that is prob coz of bad practice!! So learn your passion n don't take the piss!!! Again, feel the trees
  24. I open the van door a little when in in it now from time to time as am in bricks now! but this seems to cause a equal presher in between the warm & cool air so chucks out any back draft probs due to wet/cool log fire & a stumpy flue don't help I am told! not that I have come across that prob though
