  1. Hi mate, I'd guess you'll be working but I'm visiting Kew on tuesday, if you are free and fancy a beer let me know:thumbup:

  2. He's smarter than you think, the first one was a quick exit because he realised he forgot his helmet:lol:
  3. If you were using the hitchless roller with a frog walker system and the hand ascender failed, and came down onto the top of the roller, would it be disengaged or is the release/descend mode a particular action that wouldn't be affected?
  4. Have you still got your alaskan?

  5. Lots of descenders out there, simplest way to do it is a munter hitch with a prussik backup, right up to the big money petzl ID
  6. If you're set on SRT, a swivel is fairly irrelevant, though the petzl ring idea sounds good. Either that or fit the rings and a sequoia bridge, the swivel will fit that too. I'd check anything with your loler inspector BEFORE making any mods though
  7. Interesting how they seem to have a flat cut on top...pyroclastic flow or similar perhaps?
  8. I guess I'm in too late to be of any help but good on you guys, this thread is a testament to the power of Arbtalk and the validity of online communities:thumbup:
  9. Somehow I missed that you'd replied. No not yet, looking to buy or build now. Been away working most of the last few weeks so not made much difference recently

  10. You could punt out a bit from the limb with your spare foot and give a big stride on the pantin to get past, just make sure your fingers are clear when you come back into the limb.
  11. Any converts from trying out the wrench at the arb show demo's? Had a play with the unicender and rw together, makes the uni much smoother in full descent mode, possibly the next step from the lockjack/rw combo?
  12. Not sure, they must have been blazing though! Anyone know if the full results have been published yet?
  13. Try Nigel Sargesson, the lincs tree and woodland officer. Amazing carver!
  14. Well done arran, I missed all of the comp, well most of the show really, was too busy with the demos!
  15. I'll join you
  16. Hi mate, you still working or gone travelling?

  17. No, I meant what I put but in reference to his "sexy" VT
  18. Yeah, it's another compact climbing system for work positioning etc.
  19. Advanced Ropeclimbing Technology. A manufacturer, the make the Lockjack and Spiderjack amongst other things
  20. Srt is single rope technique. The way Ian and I climb. You and the other guys climb Ddrt - doubled rope technique
  21. Dan Curtis

    Idea

I use my grillon in a similar way to the ce lanyard single length system. A little add in prussik with a bridge ring to clip into, to keep your krab from rubbing/ cross loading on the branch. You can do the same with a spike set away from the branch too
  22. If you go srt, shorten up that hitch, reduce the sitback and be super efficient:thumbup1:
